I have a F35-70 Lens with the same chin insulation system internally tattooed beneath the outer lens. Nicely done.

I've seen the same thing down here in the used/ abused/ unwanted/ $5 bargain bag on metal shades. Plastic lock ons are the vast majority in the bins. I've attached a Nikkor 50 F2 sqeeze on thread on my 85 f2.

A result of a bad habit and discarded lens shades at a local dealer. Fortunately there's a Nikon F2 in rotation for some of the the acquired lenses.

Nice find in the back aisle bargain rack. Hefty Kiron 28-85 2.8-3.8. Typical Kiron beefy build.

Appreciate the info, mine seems to be in excellent shape except for the crumbling bumper foam.

Longbow,
Where did you find the foam/seal kit, Jon Goodman? How difficult was the procedure? Thanks!

I believe the SX-727 was a huge favorite in the Navy Exchanges around the world at that time. I had my Pioneer kit and Teac reel to reel tape deck (ordered from Japan) shipped home while in Diego Garcia (71-72)

A tablet, duct tape, and a wire coat hanger would be a reasonable attempt around here even though we have some pretty good internet service out on the edge of nowhere.

My wife volunteers at our local thrift store once a week and I usually stop by on the way back from the dump/recycling. This "TV" stand was on a bottom shelf looking lonely for $2.50. A new Program Plus without lens volunteered to debut its usefulness as the base even displays an 18% gray sticker as a reference.

Thanks for the primer Walter. I’ll probably leave it in the box as the regular VF works better with glasses.

Michael,
Yes on the Kiron/Minolta. appeared to have a layer of crud on the interior of the rear element. Cleaned right up as it was on the outside. Earlier I had found a 58/1.4 back on the rack, so $15 total for the three. Stupid luck!

Right Steve. MC 35mm F2.8 on the other side of the lens hood. ---------- Post added 22nd Oct 2017 at 05:36 PM ----------
Thanks Brian. I thought I might have to send the 105 Kiron to you but what appeared to be internal goop came right off on the front and rear elements.

Saw the unusual strap attached to this $5 bin special at local B&M with the Kino Precision 105 macro. Now to figure out the metering system.

Unix,
Local is approximately 200 miles apart for the two; one in Charlotte, NC and one in Greenville, NC. Quite a few folks my age are downsizing their gear so a drive down the mountain in either direction every now and then includes a stop at either store. Both are successful by changing the business models to emphasize framing/prints/gear trade-ins/pro needs/ and some classes as well as very knowledgeable sales staffs. 20mm Spiratone/lens/shade was on the rescue rack, but gloating at the price paid is impolite.

Spiratone 20mm f2.8 with massive dedicated OEM lens hood in an adjoining box and Nikkor-H 300mm f4.5. Both acquired in local B&M's.

Dave,
I'm sure you've been down to Biggs and perused the used MF stuff. When I came down off the Mtn. last week the showcase was practically clean of MF. Check the used stuff in the back hallway for Bronica lens/body caps and other accessories that don't make it to the showroom cases. Those folks appreciate MF and seem to get lots of pieces in. Lou |

Latest from the local junk bins, $5 each. 2x TC all contacts, Tokina 28-70, and ME Super. They even saved it for me.

I agree Arnold and Cuthbert, having traded in a well used Nikkormat FTN and a my wife's Nikon FG for the F2. I bought the Nikkormat for my sister in the 80's and she used it up. Never ventured towards the Canons during the early 70's as our Navy Photography Mates would come in the Galley using Nikons and Pentax and had a phrase about "Cannons." For a vintage
user I was looking for something to contrast with my original 1971 Spotmatic II kit. As for film use, whatever anyone is happy with the results using, go for it. I sorta like getting like new third party lenses for $5 each.
