Thanks Norm,
"The Look." One of the great displeasures of married life or teaching. Since I'm returning to school next week to replace my replacement who left teaching to become a nurse while the lateral entry takes two weeks to become indoctrinated, I'll try to restore "My Look." After all, nothing says "What the +*&$#@"hociR*& were you thinking" to a middle school student than "The Look." I'm scrambling to find some thin reading glasses now to peer over.

Mono,
We have a rendering plant on the other side of the county that is very capable of measuring rendering. As a matter of fact, 40 foot trailer loads of renderings roll onto the scales daily with the choicest parts of local remains to supply American industrial needs though the odors don't resemble my understanding of pixie dust. I know for a fact that almost bacon and formerly cow goes into these renderings, therefore splendidly qualifying for this thread. Rio hociR!

Your proof question Mono, hociR or not. How many times did your Bosch fuel injection die on you?

It's been a while but the dramatic evidence you mentioned reminded me of a young lady who arrived from the bus lot to a science classroom next to mine. What passes for breakfast for American middle schoolers is one kernel short of toxic. In a rush to get to the bus she reached in the fridge and grabbed a stack of sliced process American "cheese" and ran to the bus. By the time she reached school and outside my door, pale, shaken, and stirred, the floodgates opened and projectile cheese confetti spewed Monty Pythonlike over the hallway. To middle schoolers it might as well have been "Snakes on the Plane." I called for the custodian knowing I would have to clean it up anyway. When one student asked me why I was cleaning the floor I told her I had experience…….I cooked in the US Navy and had lots of practice from fellow cooks doing the same thing many mornings from adult beverages the night before. Terrazzo is much easier to clean than concrete anyway.

Racer, it may have been his major movie swan song but his last film was Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. |

After I looked at your location photos, what size aircraft flies into your airport? More importantly will the K-3 be shipped via the northwest passage?

Todd,
Other than the artisanal Cheesers around Asheville this is the real deal in West Jefferson; Ashe County Cheese. I don't think either of the two Pentax owners in the local club has a K-3………yet.

Todd,
Great description of teaching in middle school, especially to the gamers first period. They've been up all night on the X box. Cutting the cheese per your description is a true celebration in class of 30+ 13 year olds.

Monochrome,
A commonly heard colloquialism in this region, "Present tents, past tents, future tents." Dialects are wonderful.
