I like the b&w too. The color makes your eyes wander to the bright dressess, then the drums, but almost never on your subject the drummer. The b&w puts one's eye on the drummer which I think was your intent.
I would have liked to see an f2 version of that, I think that would isolate your subject even a bit better. Nice shot though.

True. Shallow dof at a short focal on aps-c is hard to get without super fast apertures. It's the reason I own a FF.

Thanks. My perceptions were mostly formed looking at the lens explorer at Flickriver and comparing the Nikon and Canon 35mm with the FA31. Maybe Nikon isn't as good at 35, but obviously has some others that are excellent and the FA31 is excellent at that length.
The 24/1.4 is very nice. Spendy, but nice.

It seems the Pentax lenses can be used on Canon FF, correct with some adapter of course, but there is no way to use them on the Nikon?
I've been monitoring this thread for awhile. I've my eye on a D700, but I think I like the bokeh of the Canon's a bit better and the Pentax lenses as well. It seems smoother with less of the little circles or waves than on some of the Nikon shots
This is not a full frame shot, it's with my K20d and the FA31 at 1.8, but the bokeh is so smooth. I haven't seen a lot of Nikon bokeh that matches this. Would be happy to be proven wrong though Flower by RyanShoots, on Flickr
