There is no doubt this lens was needed and I hope it will be a hit. I think there are a lot of hold outs for the K-3 II replacement but we have know idea if it will be sooner or later. Lets hope its soon, very soon.

It will be great when we can see a comparison between the new 11-18 f2.8 DA* and the 15-30 f2.8 DFA. This DA* is very price so I hope on a crop sensor it performs at least as well as 15-30 on FF.

I think noise level is the main issue, the second would be the speed of the lens, which may or may not be relevant. When other makers have compatible products with better internal focusing we tend to get a bit jealous. Human nature I suppose. Its too bad Pentax haven't been able to upgrade the in camera focusing motor to be uber quiet and fast. Then they could build screw drive lenses to their hearts content.

Would of it been to much effort to update the motor as well. I don't think that the HD coatings will change the character of this lens which seems to be fairly well regarded. I suppose if it's quite inexpensive they might sell some. This seems to be an attempt to just release something for full frame.
