I have a regular standard eye-fi mobi card, not a PRO one. I can definitely use the selective transfer feature with my K-50. But keep in mind that the PRO version allows transfers of RAW files, whereas regular MOBI is limited to just JPEGs.

Yes. it really just depends on your intended usage. I had the Eye-Fi card in my K-50 during a recent vacation to Florida. I was able to take pictures, selectively transfer certain ones to my iPad and iPhone, and then upload the best ones to my Facebook account or e-mail them to my parents and friends. I didn't bring my laptop with me on this trip, nor did I want to use my iPad's "camera connection" SD card reader. The wireless transfer capability was really useful to me when I was away from home and away from any computer.

In the tools menu, select Eye-Fi at the bottom (after "file name" and "Copyright Information"). Pressing OK will bring up the Eye-Fi configuration page, where you can change the "Eye Fi Communication" option from AUTO (the default, which transfers all pictures on the card) to Eye-Fi SELECT - which enables you to transfer only selected images from the memory card to your smartphone.
Once you have enabled this, then you should view on the LCD screen the particular image you want to transfer. Press the down arrow (labeled WB) and toggle down to the lower right hand corner icon which is the WI-FI symbol. Click OK and you will have an option to "select image" -- once you do that, select the desired image using the OK button and then hit INFO to finish. Then select "transfer" and it will transfer just that image, or any other ones that you have checked, over to your smartphone application.
Good luck!
PS: I used an Eye-Fi MOBI card, 8 GB, class 10. seems to work decently enough, although transfer speeds when using a memory card reader on my computer definitely are slower than using my SanDisk Extreme HD card.

I chose the K-50 over the K-30 in small part because it wasn't that much more money at the time I bought it, and also because the K-50 allows greater functionality for Eye-Fi wireless card transmissions. I have really appreciated the Eye-Fi- enabled features of the K-50, specifically the ability to individually select particular images on the camera to transfer over to my iPhone which can then be easily uploaded to Facebook or emailed while on-the-go or traveling.
When I used an Eye-Fi card in my old Pentax K-x, it transferred ALL the pictures over and takes a lot longer (though there apparently is a "selective transfer mode" that involves only transferring pictures that you have to manually "lock" or "protect" but it's a cumbersome process and not intuitive). Plus there was no on-screen icon for the wireless connection nor other specific menu options to configure the card (enable/disable). And the camera could power-off during the transfer process, thus severing the connection-- I had to ensure that the camera did not go to sleep during the transfer. With the K-50, I don't have these worries.
So, I'm definitely glad I spent a little more money to get this nice feature!
