I am mixed on the parks, we have several close to me. One is actually a fenced off area at the lake which is a couple of acres of trees beach and lake access. Blue loved it there, and I think it is the best one in the city as it effectively is a natural area just secured so dogs aren't likely to escape easily (swimmers can) and anyone coming in is aware it is a leash free dog zone so less nasty interactions. the rest are mostly small parkettes with dual door access systems to help stop escapers (though the fences wouldn't stop Della they are only 3-3.5 feet high, as a catahoula there is no challenge there) the smaller parks the issues are if they are overcrowded (and post work they can be) there can be dominance fights break out , also they are known sources of dog diseases like Parvo, so you need to be sure your dog is well vaccinated . Della is still leashbound, and that is good for me because we walk a minimum of 10 km a day and some days manage as much as 16 km. I have lost some weight already and my outlook on life seeing the sun rise daily on dog walks is much improved after a grey winter
I have taken her into the parks she only is showing moderate interest so for the foreseeable it is long walks and training

actually, unlike Blu it seems to be more I want to play. as part of the foster agreement I cannot let her off-leash or in a dog park (which makes sense) I am trying to find an unlocked tennis court and get a friends heeler over to play)

the rescue we are fostering for does not call it a foster fail, they call it a foster fiesta because the goal is to rehome the animals. we may end the same

In the three months, since Blu passed we talked a lot about fostering a dog before getting our next one. so this is the new foster. she arrives from Texas next Sunday and comes with the new name Delphinium (I wish we had name input but whatever). 4 years old, maybe a handful, maybe easy we will find out. the agency has a manual and rules the size of a small novel. and as a foster, we do not get first shot at the dog if someone has already applied for it (which given the good looks i assume will happen as soon as she goes up for adoption) there is a window we could request her , but it is very short

Great shots, and yes we continue to miss them all. whenever social media reminds me of Blu's predecessor Tasha I feel bittersweet and sad , fortunately as she was mostly a pre-digital camera dog it is a rare occurrence, this was the day she came home free no gst from a farmer at waterloo farmers market way back

I bet, Blu keeps popping up in various social media posts, which makes it tough as well. Not ready for a new pup yet but eventually we will get another heeler (perhaps 2 this time) maybe we will get in a vacation first without the boarding expense

great shot, Blu loved this game, (and usually one, Heelers are stubborn and strong-jawed. It's been 10 weeks today since he passed, it will be a long winter.

Cattle dogs are the same, though Blu has managed to injure himself and it looks like it may be a torn ligament I will find out Thursday, which means expensive surgery... and no long walks for him (and therefore less for me) for a couple of months ---------- Post added 2nd Mar 2021 at 13:46 ----------
Blu loves the snow, if it is deep when we walk he buries himself and rolls around in it .

First day with the Fuji GF110F2 fortunately I have a compliant free model in Blu for testing things. this started as a high key 3200 iso monochrome and a Trix emulation, decided I liked colour more _DSF4693-Edit.jpg by Eddie Smith, on Flickr

Nice work, I could use Blu as a practice target for lighting but nowadays he is usually in the same pose he was new years day above ;) , I like the use of gels
