Loving the caffenol results you have been posting. Access to the darkroom at the gallery I belong to has been almost non-existant for the last year thanks to Covid restrictions (they have been closed for 9 months of the previous 12 and all member interaction and exhibit work has been online, the number of physical exhibits and show spaces for next year is less than half the usual. Still worth the cost of being part of an artist group ...gives me access when things are normal to a Flextight scanner, a shooting studio, lots of darkroom space, and of course the gallery and ability to propose shows, etc. I believe I have a few rolls of unprocess BW in the fridge I will maybe mix some of this up and use as a long stand time process

the more easily available 4x5 and larger Xray film shoots at about 6-10 iso (not the sturdiest film out there and Ortho designed for photography gives better results (though at almost double the price)

not when you are trying to remove the black to change the code, you need shiny (tinfoil works) and Black (tape works) but really the printouts on the page O linked are a great solution just make your own and attach ....i don't use the T4 or the Stylus that often to spend the time making adjustments if the film has it and i want to bump the iso it is almost always about removing black , takes a few seconds

it was more removing the black so it was shiny, i guess sticky tinfoil would work

I did see instructions online for making your own dx labels (also handy if you want to push the film in a point and shoot like my Yashica Super T4 or Olympus Stylus. https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-film-DX-code-labels/ ---------- Post added 26th Mar 2019 at 11:13 ---------- i have regularly scratched away coding to change speed ;) ..r

I like dealing with them and don't mind a bit extra on some film if it keeps them open and not absorbed by HENRY'S like all the others in that area were

In some ways it's easier than B/W processing. With B/W you have a myriad of chemical choices all of which cause a different end result in the neg. With c41 it's very straightforward, the choice is limited and the main thing is temperature control for a few minutes. If you are going to print then it's a different story, you will need a more sophisticated darkroom in general to print colour. Printing B?W you can start with a complete darkroom you can likely find for $100 or so

Exactly, it's convenient to use but in many ways lacks the character of a Tri -X or other classic b/w

you rose to the challenge. PanF is one of my favourite films and you've captured why. great fine detal fantastick blacks and amazng tional range. I use it more for landsapes (where a tripod means I need not worry about the shutter speed ;) I need to shoot a roll through my bronica as a street camera one day soon

I almost always did some kind of toning or another on b/w prints in the darkroom , various processes bring out different aspects of a print. Selenium was the most useful, With the right paper it brings out blacks you can't seem to get any other way, and it is a good archival process
I miss wet process some times (not the cancer causing agents of course.....;) )

Excellent shots,
I can tell you adjusting in PS or any other program is no different than you would have done in the darkroom in the past, you used filters even in b/w printing and chose paper for it's contrast....... Photoshop is just a different way of achieving the same end. even if the filters get you close (and I have a a couple of full sets of b/w filters including ir) you will still end up adjusting in post. maybe less but it will happen ;)

Realistically Delta 3200 is really a 1600 iso film they market as 3200. It can be pretty grainy in my experience, but better than say trix pushed 3 stops
I would shoot it say down a half stop (iso 2400) less and develop for 3200.

50% luck tuco, it takes skill to frame and expose it then develop and scan/print it properly, any one of those botched and the final result isn't as good

it's actually only hard when you don't use the camera ofter, even landscape orientation is then. on a tripod it's a piece of cake, handheld a little harder.
In the case of cameras with a WL (like the Bronica I have in the marketplace) there are also optional prisms :D
