I was checking out some rarely used items for an album cover shoot coming up and realized my very old Minolta light meter has had it's day (even getting the battery is a challenge) so I took a look around and found a very nice Sekonic L-478D lightly used. may take a while to learn some features (the cinema features will be a whole new level of learning) but well designed and straightforward flash metering with some memory and averaging features (this will be a very stark white background shoot so metering is very useful I can get it all balanced before the first shot ) and only uses two AAA batteries so never at a loss for power at the worst walk to closest corner store. doesn't have the 5degree spot attachment but I think I may order it for when I shoot landscapes with the GW690 Edit- and a very reasonable $300 Canadian) - pictured is the DR pocket wizard version mine is the D U with no radio feature - not a big deal I can trigger the flash setup easily from my Godox trigger

it is a great lens, not my favorite focal length but a great all rounder. I love it on the Xpro - I believe that was a package option originally (that or the lower cost XF27 package)

I have a couple of new acquisitions, (and hopefully will be done for a very long time
MacBook Pro MX1Max 64 GB 16" - my first mac should have done it decades back am loving it . Blistering fast machine I have been unable to challenge yet - Stacked 50mp medium format Astro shots may do it (though I doubt it)
Benq 3220 Monitor to go with above when setup in doc
WD EX4100 My Cloud 40TB Raid for the above setup
Lacie 16TB big dock
Benro Polaris Astro Edition motorized tripod head/star tracker - Sponsored the Kickstarter 10 + months back, it just arrived, still figuring it out and waiting on clear skies but all the features seem to work properly
Fuji GFX50sii w 35-70 lens - while i love the 50R I bought I missed the IBIS and most lenses did not have OIS so I made the switch for xmas
Thanks, Dad for the inheritance - I have now spent what I allocated to upgrades

I was going to replace the 6x6 around my front garden this year as they have really deteriorated. if will have to wait until next year lumber has skyrocketed 6x6 are $68 each this week ... 2x4s are $10. I did build a new vertical Planter but did it with upcycled wood from at skid no cost ...

Today I may bite the bullet on a Fuji X100V ..... trying to resist the offer

We have been told to upgrade the hydro service to a minimum of 100 preferably 200. All the major draw appliances are Gas it makes no sense but we will do it as part of a kitchen reno this summer' since code now specifies a slew os GFI plugs in a kitchen (so now I will be able to make toast and boil the kettle at the same time :)

Mine arrive yesterday, loaded it with my GFXkit a couple of flashes batteries, filter kits etc, and put my largest heaviest tripos on the back, it came in at 29 pounds and was comfortable though the tripod still is very large and sticks up quite high, I may add a couple more straps for securing it to stop wobble, meanwhile, my next size down tripod works perfectly and saves 4 pounds. If I loaded it with my apsc kit (3 zooms and a few primes) it will be maybe a bit more weight (particularly if I ever find the right deal on the 100-400 zoom and a couple of TC)
you have a couple of decades on my (July 1960) my flurry of spend lately is hopefully setting me up for much less spend when I hit retirement in a few years and manage to take the slow cross country drive I want to do(Likely drive to visit a friend in St John NFLD first then head back all the way to my sister's place in Duncan, all on the Canadian route. Personally as a teen I travelled the Alberta to Toronto part but not all the way through the mountains except on the train as a child in the 60s, and going east I have not been to NFLD or PEI yet. I will hike into the Hamilton area waterfalls this spring to test it out

the 450 hit's all those points (the only flaw is it is not fully waterproof except when you pull out the rain shield and cover it... which would mean taking the tripod off the back

the protactic mount system is very cool idea

I have been shopping about for a good backpack for a while now. I have 4 good bags but all rely on my shoulder , and on the hikes I have been doing it has been causing back issues. Decided on the Lowepro Bp450awii as I came across a great sale from an authorized dealer $70 cheaper than all the other dealers sale prices . Will be a great new flight bag as well...

Just ordered the Fotdiox 48mm Extension Tube for the GFX. on a couple of my lenses it will give me 1:16 on the wide end of the 45-100 and .67 at the long end. and 1.13:1 on the 30mm 0.56 on the 110 and 0.88 on the 50 mm .. and of course i could stack them since I have the smaller 20mm as well (these ratios are actually the fuji 45 and 18mm I am too lazy to do the math for a couple of mm... :) ) -- just in time for bug and flower season

I had ordered some Hyperion Flat braided straps to use with the GFX and Xpro, including the wrist and two different lengths. with the quick release. much thicker and more heavy-duty than I expected the wrist strap I will have no compunction on using with the heavy 50R or XH1 and Grip well-made straps

Had a large order of cleaning supplies arrive from Visible dust today (needed to upgrade my technique now I am dealing with the GFX sensor. aside from a load of swabs and the three different cleaning fluids I got the Lit up 7 x loupe and the Artic Butterfly. Cleaned the GFX since I had it with me, the loupe made a big difference to the efficiency and the butterfly worked very well. Sparkling like new sensor now until I change lenses on the go..... (I have been making a habit of carrying a blower now and blowing out each lens change too)
will work my way through all the X bodies next including the ones headed for sale)

I agree, in digital I have had battery grips on K10 and K7, XT1, XH1, and grips with arca plates on Xpro1 Xpro2 XE3 and GFX - all benefitted from the addition though i don't always take the battery grip if i am using a lighter lens (the other grips are on all the time)

Scored a very nice tripod today for $400 Canadian ... it would cost about 1200 with tax for the new versions Benro c457n6 carbon fibre base with Induro BHD3 ball head rated at 55lbs. I will end up moving this head to another tripod when the Benro Polaris arrives . Meanwhile I will put it to good use . A little heavy for long hikes but rock solid and would give the big Gitzo units a run for the money

Bought into a Benro Kickstarter for what looks like it will be an impressive Astro tool. I want to start shooting more astro, the city is not friendly to it so when i do shoot no time to waste since i will be driving shooting and returning . after lockdowns and things free up a little
Also looks great for pano stitching for landscapes etc. Signed up for the astro (which I believe is now sold out)

Polaris - Smart Electric Tripod Head by BenroPolaris ? Kickstarter

Delivery is expected about the same time i may be able to take advantage of it

Ok, the softbox and umbrella arrived today at work. wow, the umbrella is massive, I didn't visualize the size in my mind's eye. it will be great for outdoor shoots (on nonwindy days - or with heavy stand weights ) - can be a reflector or shoot-through ..... the 60" octobox is huge but I expected that.... this may force a move to a 10' stand...:hmm:

fairly pricey 2499 here in Canada, still less than the GFX equivalent 110 f2 @ 3779  (mind you covers a 70% larger sensor for only 54% more money ;) )
