I'm not a pro by any means but the few pano shots that I took in Yellowstone park I had my K-x in manual mode with manual focus to infinity on my 17-50 Tamron. If you shoot jpeg it's also recommended to set manual white balance. These steps will assure that all the shots are taken with the same technique and your final image will be uniform.
