Not really. Unless the light is changing from shot to shot, there is no need to re-meter. You only hit the green button when you notice the light has changed. And if you're accustomed to using M mode even for autoexposure lenses, then there is no adjustment. The only difference between the A and M version of a lens is that the former doesn't make a sound when hitting the green button. Also, you get full time meter reading so you have some feedback as to when the light has changed without needing to test periodically.
