Really? What about if you go up to 10 seconds? 20? 30? Perhaps the point at which the slow shutter speed ISO kicks in is ISO dependent? Or maybe it really does only kick in at ISO 800 and above, but I kind of doubt that is really true. Anyhow, point being, the settings of your high ISO NR options have no bearing that I know of on slow shutter NR.
No, definitely not. I always thought it kicked in at just a couple of seconds on my cameras, but I guess I've never really run the tests to know for sure, and I don't have either of the cameras you reference anyhow.

BTW, what you're describing is *slow shutter speed* NR, not *high ISO NR*. Two totally separate things. High ISO NR can be turned on or off at will on any of these cameras, and takes only a fraction of a second no matter how long the exposure was, because it doesn't use DFS. Slow shutter NR is the one that uses DFS and takes as long as the originl exposure, and can't be turned off on some models. No idea at exactly what point it kicks in on either model, though.
