It might be they did not have eggs as yet, in which case they'd leave a nest that seemed vulnerable. Once eggs are laid, loyalty to the nest goes up, and once the young hatch, fidelity to that nest commonly takes a quantum leap. However as with all things in Nature, as I always told my students: There are exceptions to every rule, including this one.

Just be careful when and how you move. Some birds will leave a nest in a twinkling. Others are very loyal, and most birds will stick to a nest after the young hatch. It's an evolutionary gamble thing: the probability of leaving viable offspring is better if you stick with one you have than if you abandoned it to bet on successfully raising young next year. Because the odds favor sticking to a youngster you have, the majority of birds will do that.

Very well done, and as you probably know the third (last) image is something apart.

Love the plump little bird out in the wet. We tend to be sympathetic, even pity the chilly-looking thing, but birds have endured such conditions for tens - correction - hundreds of millions of years.

Sorry if these images were taken with something other than a K3 (may have still been using the K5), but while we're on the subject of ocelli, with close inspection all three can be seen just about touching each other on these fly images.

That is a good set to look through. The first image is just plain beautiful, and the second is intriguing.

The first image captures a wonderful, serene, beautiful mood. If only all the world could be so peaceful and lovely.

If you want to de-emphasize the dog, B&W is better. But I prefer the color version because the brown on the dog's face pops out and draws my eye to him/her.

That's a beautifully sharp image. Maybe the equipment benefits from a little roughing-up to make it pay attention to what it's supposed to do ;). Sort of the way M nudges me when I'm driving and I decide to doze off along a boring road.

I took many pictures of the horses at this farm where we stayed one night in Iceland. The Icelandic horses - small and sturdy, with long flowing manes and tails, shorter muzzles, any color at all - are very attractive beasties.

I also like the half-starburst sun, so much might I suggest an experiment? Crop down to a squarish image that includes just the three trees and all of the sun's rays, to see how that would look.

I must have skipped setting the clock in that camera body, or I am telling a fib now because I don't want anyone to find out that I've discovered how to go back to the future (go forward to the past?).;) ---------- Post added 02-17-18 at 03:02 PM ----------
Yes, Prague, the old palace-castle. It's not the original chapel as this church was built long after Wenceslas' death. Possible bits of the much older, original chapel have been uncovered outside, but they aren't much to look at, just the edges of some badly deteriorated stone walls.

A lot of PP went into making that image look decent. The color in the original file was just awful, as was the WA distortion and the dynamic range. I have another version taken with the 10~17mm fish-eye that shows the ceiling, and that required even more PP to look "natural" (=the way I remember it).

Chapel of Good King (and Saint) Wenceslas. His remains are in the red house-shaped container at right. The public can look into but not enter because the walls are studded with precious stones and gold leaf within easy reach.
