I stared long and hard at a HUGE Pollock canvas at MOMA years back; sort of interesting colors & textures (in places the paint is thick as it comes squirting from the tube). Great art? Well, if the artist says it is, who will question? Many years back an issue of Modern (or maybe Popular) Photography magazine had a series of smeary, out-of-focus, tilted, shaken, hazy, dirty lens images that documented the progression of creativity by an obscure modernist European photographer with lots of explanation as to meaning, intent, vision, etc.(It was hard to understand the images without the commentary). You could almost bite into it, except the magazine was issued on April 1.

I have the original Pentax 85 soft, and it's OK for some images. Works best with pastel colors, bright light and very low contrast. Flowers are a natural, and maybe children (I don't do children, or people in general). Easy to over do, over use a soft focus lens. If someone wanted to go bargain on such a lens I'd send them looking on EBAY for the 100mm old-time portrait lens once offered by Spiratone, although its a bit long for APS-C, or trying a close-up filter/lens mounted directly via tubes or bellows and a reverse adapter.
