Let's share shots with Q!

Have fun. It really makes it easy to change a variety of settings quickly. I've been using it a LOT this week and while there are issues with the Q, speed of focus on the 02 lens, things like this little wheel and others make it a great camera.

It's possible Stan, that is how I do it.

Go to Menu.
Camera 3 menu - top item = Quick Dial
Select by going down to it and pushing the right wheel button (the timer symbol is on it).
You have 4 choices =
Smart Effect
Custom Image
Digital Filter
Aspect Ratio
Choose Custom Image (second choice)
Push the down button on the wheel (the WB button) for each of the 4 choices.
Set each of the 4 choices by using the right and left buttons on the wheel to cycle through the options for 1 of 12 different treatments. B&W is the last choice.
When done hit the OK button.
You then choose which of those 4 (Smart Effect, Custom Image, Digital Filter, Aspect Ratio) you want the button to be operating. When in the Custom Image mode you have 4 different settings (5 really because the dot on the front dial allows the camera to be set through the main menu).
I have Bright, Natural, Vibrant, and B&W as my choices.

Enjoy.

Thanks. I have limited editing available to me right now so I just reduced their screen size and left everything else the way it came out of the camera. I'm sure that PS could do "better" B&W but I really like seeing the LCD in B&W when I'm shooting. Just as a point of comparison here is one of the cars in color straight out of the Q.

I'm on vacation and wanted to try out the Q in typical tourist settings. I've really enjoyed the B&W setting a lot and found a couple of situations that just begged for B&W treatment.

Thanks. My daughter was playing with it and I thought - wonder if the Q can shoot down the opening with any fidelity? The kaleidoscope is an inexpensive one so the objects in it aren't the highest quality plus the mirrors are poor as well. It was fun and makes me wonder what it would be like with a higher quality kaleidoscope. As for the pink Christmas tree......no idea but it was odd enough that I took a couple of closeups to see how the turned out.

Pink Christmas (sister-in-law's) and Kid's Kaleidoscope. Neither has been retouched except to crop and resized to fit the screen.

Stan,
I've enjoyed John's articles for some time. I know he has tried many different MILCs and, out of selfishness, wanted to hear his thoughts comparing them. I enjoy his work and am glad that he decided to stay on PF and continue to contribute.

John,
Have you written anything comparing the Q, K-01, V1, etc.? I enjoy your work and would appreciate your thoughts on those cameras. I believe you own, or have owned, those and other MILCs.

Nick,
I can't seem to find the Exif data on either photo. Does Flickr have a way to see that, sorry but I don't use Flickr.

Sorry, it was a running joke. I posted about a great deal at QVC on a lens, but we all got ceiling fans delivered instead. QVC was completely clueless.

I thought that unit had a soft panel in the front. I thought he used it to get a more diffuse light.

I'm afraid my shots are more mundane than most here. Went to the Gem & Mineral show this morning and took a few.

Here are two straight out of the Q, simply downsized a bit. Both taken with the same setting except the second is using the little front dial to do B&W. I'm finding it is reawakening something in me as a photographer to use B&W and not capture the image in color and then convert it. I know the camera is converting but it feels like shooting B&W with the screen showing you the framing in shades of grey. The first two are, obviously, taken with the 03 Fish-Eye.

These are mineral specimens that were particularly eye catching. These were taken with the 01 Prime and each specimen is about the size of a golf ball. The 2nd shot is under UVC light.
