It would seem so to me. Heck, the 70-200/2.8 really requires a monopod or tripod for any extended use. It weights 1150g, so only 90g more, and is not more than a couple cm longer. This trend toward huge, and heavy, lenses that are touted as being amazing optically is a bit daunting IMHO. Not that I begrudge anyone a high-end lens but it might be nice to have some variety in the choices other than having to go on a scavenger hunt when you don't want to pay more for the lens than the body. But then, I'm an old Scot.

No, they are taking care of it. It's the scarcest lens I've tried to buy that I can recall. I like it (MF still works and I've taken a few pictures at different focal lengths and f settings) and it is certainly incredibly wide for FF. I'll just have to keep searching. I'm just unwilling to carry the 1040g DFA 15-30 behemoth of a UWA lens that costs more than I paid for my K-1 around. Geez the thing has nearly the same size/weight specs that my Tamron 70-200/2.8 has and it costs a fortune!!

Intermittent electrical problems with MF-AF (along with the f) alternating randomly as its used on each camera. Cleaned contacts but its something more serious. KEH has sent me a refund, FedEx back to them, and apologized. They were the only ones with a Sigma 12-24DG in the US for sale so I'm back to trolling the sales forum and used gear for one.

Weekend before last I did a 3 day event with it. 4 hours the first day, 12 the second, and 10 the third. It's definitely heavier but I decided that the output from it is worth the extra weight. Added a neoprene strap with some cushion and give to it and that made a positive difference. I even shot the Sigma 150-500 on a monopod with it. Definitely superior to my K-3 (which is winging its way to its new owner as of this morning).

It's hard to describe in many ways. On paper the K-3 is superior, period. In use, not so much IMHO. Nonetheless, the K-1 is excellent in every way so far, except it weighs so much more than the K-5IIs.

I kept the K5IIs. 😀 I used the K3 but never felt it was as good as the K5IIs in normal use. If I was shooting in low light I felt the K-5IIs was a better choice. AF was better in the K3 but not significantly IMHO. I did enjoy the extra card slot in the K3. In the end, I felt that the K-1 + K-5IIs made the most sense to me. I'm also selling my almost unused K-01 as redundant and I hope someone will actually use it regularly.

I'm learning the same with my new K-1 vs my K-5IIs. I'm keeping the K-5IIs, put the K-3 in the mail today to its new home, but the K-1 does show it up in the images captured.

Outstanding! The 35-70 is a gem but you got a lot from the 28-80.

I've had 4 copies of the 35-70 and two of the have been fantastic, one was ok, and one was not sharp.

Having just shot the 35-70, 35-135, and 70-210 at an event (trying out new K-1) I can support Mike's recommendation. The 35-70 is a bag full of primes and the 70-210 isn't weak either. The 35-135 is not in their class IMHO.

My other recommendation is to take as wide a lens as possible, even if MF, with you for the K-1. I took a Vivitar 19/3.8 that is MF and am very happy that I did for the group shots. It's very light and small weighing only 200g with caps.
