Hi, thanx for your interest.

i used centered averaged metering, since the light was pretty harsh outside,
i took the exposure of the railroad, lower part, kept the metering then composed the whole picture.
I'm using mostly Aperture priority,

exifs are on the picture on flickr.
f3.5
5mm
1/125@125 isos.

the original is in jpeg (even if i'm using raw most of the time, sometimes i switch to jpeg, like that time, when i forgot to clear the sd card) , color,

then develloped through lightroom;

I like contrasted black and whites since film era, so i created some presets to suit my needs.
Indeed i tend to work against that tendency that i have to pump contrast way too much.

These shots were mostly some testing of a recently acquired 02 Std, as the Q is like a photographic notepad to me, indeed a lot of shots i made with have a render that i wont get on my K5.

" the first time I touch the Pentax Q, there is a different sensation, it's just different, you want to play with it more, you feels more fun with it, you feel addicted to it. My G11 and G1x never intriguing my sense of creativity as much as Pentax Q. Yes, it's odd, but it happens to me :)"

that's so true!

true,
i used to think about toy lens this way.

but since that day, i'm using the wide like a sort of ... way of shooting.
i feel the limits of the hardware, lights and shadows are difficult to handle with, manual focus isn't easy, slow aperture makes it sooooo unfriendly, small sensor with slow lens, and slow speed; bad high isos rendering, moton blur from low speed... everything is here for crappy shots. indeed, there is a little more of magic in these. Specially in b&w straight from the Q. I like the way i need to shoot qith that q + wide toy lens. It can seems to be difficult with all these limits, but, you can take it the other way. dont think about anything than shooting things just with what you got in your hands. i like it that way. reminds me of film time.

Things doesn't always need to be perfect. life isn't perfect neither.

i used to think about toy lens like a kinda real lens , but cheap, and with limitations.
i was wrong.
they seems to be at the opposite, it's a way to get rid of the false need of perfection.

my picts with toy lens are not the sharpest, not the cleanest, not the perfect ones. But i like the way they seems alive. more than most of my "sharpest/cleanest/perfect" ones

damn i'm weird :D
but i like shooting with that Q.
i feel shooting with that Q.

hi all,

i took the toy lens wide with me on a day.

never liked these, wide or tele toy lens.

but,

i found out that the wide is pretty great on proxy.

and it's also pretty nice for street, specially in b&w, the noise is just lovely

reminds me of my old times using tmax film :D

hi,

picts from camera were pretty contrast-less cause the shots were in shadow or very low light of cloudy days.

it's from a preset i made in LR. somewhere between bleach bypass and hdr i guess.
i don't use camera rendering exept for the monochrome B&W that i really like.
maybe i should give them a try , but i still kinda not confortable with these.
Most of time i get what i want from raw + Lr.

actually, what you see may seems nice, but the whole event is kinda overestimated. They try to sell it as a great cultural show, indeed, the whole thing is very badly organized, it starts on 8th december, so its pretty cold outside. The several scenes are very far one to another, and you need to use subways or tramways to go to. BUT, the organisation is sooooo lame that you have sometime to wait like more than 45min just to enter subway station, and each time its the same. so in 6 hours, you can barely see 2 to 3 scenes, full of people, and full of pickpockets.

They want to make a huge thing of that stuff, but they just lost the whole sense of that.

actually, it's and old tradition, of people used to put some little candles under their windows, and sharing the mood, hot wine in cold weather.

now , it's just about using huge lights scenes, most of them are projected videos on walls, with extra LOUD music... lazer shows ... and full of agressives thieves, or drunk stupid persons.

Really, they want to make lot of money by making this as a huge festival, wheareas it's just a crappy rape of an old tradition, maybe there is like 4 scenes on 15 that worth it...

we were supposed to take a turn of several but, it was just impossible to take a walk, securely, considering we were with our childs.

Yesterday was the first night of it, maybe it would be better today or tomorrow, once they clean the place which looks like a bunch of bottles graveyard after night.

If you plan to see that festival, try to see waht it's like in small towns out of here, the feel of the candlelights and the mood of it, is far far better than that money making festival
