Gosh, it didn't click to me, but your handle is Savanna RX3, and you post pictures of classic rotaries. Excellent! Please visit more!

I haven't found a lens that get metallic surfaces correct as the SMC Macro Takumar 50mm.

Give Hugin a try. It's certainly not as simple as Photoshop, but it does offer a exposure compensation across images.
I've never had a case where my exposure varied enough that it made a visible difference, but if you're willing to give it a try it might be worth your time.

Thank you! Much appreciated.
Here's another from today, this one I shot the picture before the flash recharged, so no flash. Same lens.
For some reason, every time I use this lens I dislike what I see on the on camera LCD, but when I get back to the computer and check my curves and composition,
I find this lens just does things that give it an immense amount of character. I can't really explain it, except that I like this lens, and wish I could use it more.

The Super Takumar 200mm f4 is pretty good on extension tubes. This photo used just the #3 extension tube.

Amazing price on that 85mm.
I disassembled my Super Takumar 50mm. It's simply a beautiful piece of engineering.
I took a photo of the lens group with the SMC Takumar 50mm Macro.
I re-greased the helicoid while I was in there. So, I wasn't just taking it apart to admire the inner workings. I also bought a CFL blacklight and I got rid of most of the yellowing of the lens.
My next project is to take apart my 200mm and clean the aperture blades along with the last lens element, which has a touch of fungus.

I was digging through my collection to find a good example of the 200mm f4 Super Takumar I could post in this thread, I think I've found it!
As far as I remember, this was wide open. Maybe some slight post.

First post in this amazing thread.
I was debating on what to get for my next lens (I have a Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 and a 200mm 4) and while I like the convenience of the bayonet mount lenses, I really wanted to try a SMC Takumar.
So I got the SMC 50mm f4 Macro. What a lens. |
