I wasn't trying to make the claim that the FA 50 is better than the 43 Limited. I was just trying to clarify for Thule that both the 50 and 43 are sharper than the DA 16-45 at 45mm.

At 45mm (which is the focal length that matters for this comparison), from f4 to f11, the DA 16-45 is outperformed by both the FA 43 Limited and the FA 50. Among the reasons you might want to get either of the primes are speed and portability. I have both the DA 16-45 and the FA 50. If I was going for a walkabout kind of shoot, and I could only take 1 lens, I'd take the DA 16-45. If I were doing a portrait shoot (especially if I could only use ambient light), and I could only take 1 lens, it would be the FA 50. But if ultimate sharpness is your goal, you could do worse than the DFA 50 Macro.
If nothing else, the test from Photozone prove that the DA 16-45 is an astonishingly good wide zoom.
