Yes, Russian: they apparenty have a single word for what I had in mind :). (I tried set the word up as a linky to this, all of 1, 2 and 3 would seem to apply? :))

Convinced, after careful consideration firmly rooted in his extensive experience in the field, that he'd enjoy his nap even more, no doubt. :)

Elsie, the surreal canine? (the 'roadkill' pose and now this :)). Catching her like that with the Tamron (@300 mm, *MF* ?!) would seem like a feat in itself? :)

Hmm ... EXIF says 55mm (?) so, if you were at a longer FL, SR would not have been helping you as it might have (you used pretty fast shutter times though). Probably the Tammy just is not as brutally sharp as some of the other lenses (primes) you have anyway, but I suppose it might be fair to have it bolted down at least towards the longer FLs before a final verdict? But then having the wolfies bolted down does not sound like practical proposition :). (Manual zooms are problematic with SR as the body only knows what you tell it as far as the FL goes ).

I can almost hear the gears in her head whirring to the tune of: "I wonder why she has the clicky-whirry black box glued to her face all the time like that. Having throughly smelled it on several occasions I can't fathom how it could possibly be that interesting to anybody. Peculiar, but harmless I guess." :)

Sounds like a worthy idea: that way the pics would be convenient to go through and compare to help direct one's LBA :).

We used to have a beagle that would do just that, pretty much :) (That is, get a view outside through a window if at all possible, and in any case be sure to have the rest of us in the loop re someone/thing approaching by a lavish use of a repertoire vocal clues from a subtle growl to the "Sire! The barbarians are presently ramming the gate!" howl :)).

Yup, aplenty of sharpness, contrast and whathaveyou (*) that makes an "Ooo ... luvly that" photo (lens) :) ((*) I guess the problem with focus charts and 'sharpness' as a measureable figure is that while very important it is just one aspect of it, contrast or lack of it is surely another we can put a finger on, but then this still leaves room for that whathaveyou (pixie dust?) :))

I suppose this would look a-ok if it was not paired with the Tammy snap right above it. Now it is easy to see that it could use more contrast at least. (I seem to recall that these bayonet 'Takumars' were El-Cheapo versions of the full-fledged 'SMC' jobs, which would explain this sort of thing (loss of contrast due to internal reflections, the hood might have helped?))

It is not too bad getting spoilt like that though? :)

The kind of coarse, varied color fur these guys have makes them four legged focus charts: you r-e-a-l-l-y can tell when a lens is ouchy sharp :). Much more lively to have around than focus charts though, I'm sure. :)

Mighty sharp too, nice DOF/background blur/bokeh as well. :) (EXIF should have the FL you set on power-on, could help to figure out the lens?)

The expression on his face is priceless :). In reality I guess it is him chewing through a bit of what he has between his paws instead of grinning cunningly (?), but nevertheless it is a fun photo :).
