Thanks a lot Nass. It's helpful, actually. (and satisfying too, because I spot many of the faults! :))

Nass, thanks for the link. It leads to a zipped download folder - and after downloading and extracting the files, I am left with a lot of unknown extension files and a bunch of jpgs. Do you know what to do to actually read the "interactive guide"?

#6 has "wow factor" to me for sure.
I just read through another thread in here called "Why is nature photography so boring?" and I suspect that might be the problem: Art only works if it evokes emotion. Nature scenes, bird scenes in particular, do that to me. So, a stunning bird photo gives me a much stronger experience than a stunning architecture shot, or a shot of rusty hinges on an old door.
I agree with you - there might be a need of a nature lover or two among the judges. Or, of course, they might agree with the "nature photography is boring" stance, and want to keep it that way... ;-)

kengoh: I love that shrike! Nice capture!
I suppose not all the judges are as partial to great bird shots as I am...
I haven't tried submitting anything yet, but seeing that one rejected maybe I shouldn't. All my best shots are of birds.
