The A118 is a pretty decent cam, full 1080p HD quality, optional GPS, it's discrete and most of it's guts can be hidden behind the dotted area of a windshield and under $100 you can't really go wrong. Youtuber "Techmoan" has a pretty comprehensive review of the camera on his youtube channel. I bought mine from foxoffer.com (they seem to be one of the main distributor of the product).
I started using dashcams on my car a few years ago when some punk decided to use my car's front bumper as skateboard rail in the parking lot at work. The cam prevented further vandalism to my car, but did capture 2 hit and runs in mall parking lots (in both cases I was able to file police reports with video evidence). In the end it's cheap insurance.

I love it! Image quality blows my old Polaroid out of the water, and it's fun to use. I also like that it looks a lot like my X100 :)

It's 240GB, cost me $180.
You will love it! In my case, it replaces a 500mb 7200rpm HD and boot time has gone from 2-3 minutes to 28 seconds. Program loading of huge software like Photoshop CS6 and Premiere is pretty darn near instantaneous.
So now my system consists of:
Phenom quad core 3.6ghz, 16 gig ram, high end dual head video card, twin monitors
240MB SSD drive (OS and programs)
250mb 7200rpm HD (automatic weekly backup of the SSD with SyncToy)
1TB 7200rpm HD (photos storage)
500mb 7200rpm HD (video and music storage)
3 1TB external USB3/eSATA backup drives.
I was told to keep a regular backup of the SSD as the technology is still fairly young and though unlikely the risk of drive failure is still present, so I set up an old 250gb 7200rpm drive and mirror the SSD on it once weekly using MS SyncToy, That way should my SSD fail, I can just swap in my 250gb drive in it's place and not skip a beat until the warranty replacement arrives.
I'm actually thinking of adding a 128MB SSD as a dedicated Photoshop/Premiere scratch disk. Not sure I'll do it though as the performance of my system "as is" is already blowing me away with the OS/programs SSD.

Congrads on the ultimate "new acquisition"!
My nephew was also born with a bit of a cleft lip, they operated (at 2 months I think) and it barely shows at all now (he's 11 months) and they expect there will be no traces at all by the time he is 2-3. Apparently it's a very routine procedure and they have amazing recovery at that age.

She's my favorite... the DA*60-250 is the lens that spends the most time on my K5d. Despite it's heavy weight, it's quite the lens. I am sure you'll love it.
My base setup for that lens on the K5d is Tav mode, speed 350 or faster and aperture around f8. I do suggest a monopod with an articulated head for long shots.
K5d + DA*60-250 + monopod =

Well you can't use it for remote viewing (It's not a webcam, it really is a stand alone compact HD camera) It's extensively used in the filming of the show Mythbusters (you can see those little cameras all over the place in frame).
And sadly yes it is a bit more than $100 :D It's around $300usd, HD HERO2 Cameras - 2X More Powerful in Every Way

It's a pretty fun toy...
I had some gift cards to use at local big box electronics chain so I figured a GoPro could come in handy... and I'll admit it's a pretty useful toy! I also had no idea what I'd use it for, but it seems I am not having any trouble finding uses for it.
I got the Outdoors version myself. The difference between the Motor Sports and Outdoors one is the set of mounts included, and fortunately all mounts can be bought separately.
Video quality is acceptable, audio could be better and ease of use is pretty straightforward.
Enjoy your new toy when it arrives!

My latest toy... GoPro Hero2 HD camera
It's a lot of fun! Used it for some HD video, a bit of 120fps work and it's a pretty cool time lapse platform.

My latest toy
I wanted a very good quality point and shoot, pocket sized with a decent zoom... I love my dSLR's but now and then you need a compact camera you can just throw in a shirt pocket.
After reading lots of reviews I chose the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7. Amazing image quality for a point and shoot, Leica glass, shutter priority, aperture priority and full manual modes available, 720p video in AVCHD mode, internal GPS geotagging of photos and video, and best of all 25mm-300mm zoom.
I just got it tonight so I have only taken a handful of indoor flash pics with it and I am already impressed with the image quality for a P/S cam.
