Yes, I do realise that. You have same thing with anything. Even for normal shooting. Closer you are the subject, thinner the focus and other way around. I’d even say that there is no reason to do longer lens with 2:1 or greater manification, because shaking will play bigger and bigger role in it. Unless you have really sturdy tripod and flashes and...but that will take away this ’hey look at that bug going there, let’s take a shot and move on ’ -thing. Sun will set before getting a shot with big rig ;)

well, that is quite special lens that canon MPE-65 and really looks like that too. I suppose that you have to get that if you are so keen of 5:1 shooting, or use wider macro and bellows or similar to get there ;) 2:1 is already quite near. with 150 mm you would have to stop it down significantly to have things in focus.

It will be big, but time will tell. no AF will help. if it is weather sealed, even better :)

umm, isn’t longer focal let you be little more fruther away from subject..? dof at close up will be thin.any one who shoots 1:1 on any macro notice this. wider gives more surroundings, and narrow like this more just a bug or what ever..right?

It could be great option for macro. No AF really needed there.
