I’d say that going Nikon z6/7 or canon way, even panasonic, is expensive way. there will be great lenses for them. perhaps when tech get’s better, there will be more advantage, but just look at panasonic 50/1,4 prize and compare it to Pentax new 50/1,4. Difference? price and performance. bothtop notch. I do hope that IF pentax will get on to that milc boat, they will keep K-mount. no adapters. I like my mirror, but if things are heading to no mirror, okay. Keep ergo, batterylife, ect as it is. First thing to solve is AF, and I do think that they are on it.

It will, focus ring with my FA 35 is losing it's bounce and as it is slick, it don't have much friction. That is immediatelly improvement. Also surface has some texture, so it will have more to hold on. Little things that will make difference. it is just a update of already popular lens. Why cry if it is not for you.

I sincerely think that Pentax needs these lenses now more than kit zooms. There is also 18-55 PL, 28-105 WR. When it get's wider or more tele than that it get's more complicate and it costs no matter what, more. There is already quite recent kit's.

Well, zooms have always been heavy. With exception of 'kit zooms'. Modern high tech sensors need better opticks = bigger, better, more expensive. But there is still light zooms. Besides your DA*60-250 is not weather light either. There are still quite light primes to be found too. AND c'om on this needs to be big heavy and expensive lens. It is top self high end product.

well compared to many lenses it is not’that’ heavy. The thingisthat in FF land there are not so many options. and if there are you want several lenses anyway and it will weight almost as much. It would be great to have possibility to use filters(you can but not like on this new DA*11-18). I have used my 15-30 for astro and edges are blurry untill f5,6 or more closed. so this new thing is better most likely at wide end too, being designed for astro too. Colours are not as good as my DFA*70-200. But stopped down, it is really good OTOH. and for FF you want to stop down wide lenses anyway. WR is a big +. little annoyed about that bulbous front element. rain catches it quite easy. so it is usable in rain after 24 mm or tighter. there. now you can also decide if you want almost similar FoV aps-c lens or that. I was in heavy rain at China coming down from mountain because it was getting late and it just did not stop. there was big thunder going on too. I did get couple great photos on my way down. I was truly happy about my gear ability to take that. not happy to be soaking wet. that thing is great with new expensive WR and AW lenses. it gives to you a peace of mind. These are big investments after all.

-yup, I will be dissapointed if that warmer groove is not working with my DFA15-30 while keeping my hot chokolate warm. I will jump up’n down.-(joking)

it is great news this 11-18 all in all even if I’m FF shooter now.

Sorry, that was what I did actually mean. and there are no one logical ansver, for the reasons you just said. Eaven if an engineer from Ricoh would say so, there would be dosens of people going, yeah, but that is not what I think. It would be weird if there will not come some explanation and examples from Ricoh. there usually is.

They don’t have to explain, there are forums to gather your information. Even then and sometimes just because of that people do get it wrong. Ending up sad frustrated and selling what you did get..

The fact that it is taking filters, unlike 15-30, is developed with high quality, less size still better than m4/3. If they will give great aps-c flagship to go with it, why not. It is not that expensive compared to DFA15-30, which is not a ’*’ lens. If it will also be great for astro, it sounds pretty good.

One of the reasons why I have been dreaming of buying FA 31 was because of your examples. I have both now. First FA35 and now 31. Even with out bench, I can see the difference. Little stoped down and viola! For 35, it has it’s strenghts. As you mentioned. Now some of negatives(hopefully) have been sorted. Can’t see it beating FA 31 still thou, but that does not seem to be purpose at here. Rugged, not afraid of little scratches(exterior), small quite fast 35 is the key, with good image guality.

Id say that instead of 17-70 and 16-50, one should look at 16-85. Now I don’t have this lens, but looking at pictures, it seems really good. 16-50 is old desing, still can produce great images, but is usable only till 45mm IMHO. I have invested now FF, but if I was in aps-c my money would go there. Also this 11-18 seems amazing, albeit little expensive, but let’s see how it performs first..

there is on completelly new lens, 11-18 *. then there is this revamped HD FA 35/2, which is tome good lens just improved(cheap good option, instead of plastic fantastic). all of the sudden people are jumping to Fuji(not off the fuji-mountain-, yet), panic over grandmas undies, gathering that good old pentax is Doomed sign(roof is at fire). wow. forgot to buy popcorn from the shop today, is something to regret now. almost seems that some has had bad mojo biulding for couple of months and now ->THIS<- HD FA 35 tipped that thing over...good night guys. there will be some new news coming, save some for those news too.

Edit: actually don’t save any of that for later. Do that thing now! I want to enjoy news not read all grief.

That is true, and I really wonder why these 2 lenses are so much more expensive than anywhere else. I ended up buying both second hand. I'd say that 400 for revamped HD FA 35 would be okay.

Revamped 24 would be great, But making it ’*’ lens gives it perhaps too much to stand for. I mean modern * lenses are highly corrected expensive AW sealed beasts. So might not happen..

5) 100th anniversary yr of Pentax, they will release some classic lenses along with anniversary model FF camera. Little revamped HD FA might overcome shotcoming of the original FA. How about that.

Well little improving old formula is not dishonoring old desing, it is updating. About WR one more blade and DC motor, it might not be needed, but making those blades curved is just modern thing, not dishonoring anyone.

I'd say this thing of remake FA 20, 28, 35, 50, heck, even 135 would be marvelous news! Lot of people enjoy of using those old things, but are little put of possibility of misangliments, lens falling in peaces, ect. Resolving fringing and improve Bokeh and sharpnes, viola! And they would have amazing lens lineup, with possibility of having stateof art 35, 50, 85/1,4 and zooms to go along!

---------- Post added 01-29-19 at 21:44 ----------

not having atleast curved blades it would be strange indeed.
