I have to say that there are times when I worry about if I’ll manage to get eyes in focus or not, especially if one is going to pay for my efforts. There is a moment when I have that ’need’ for relying for something like ’eye af’. 8 or 9/10 I manage to achieve and usually it is really not that often when you have situation where you have to make the shot like that and you can’t have several attemps, for just to be sure. Then it is down to wether one has eyes open, half open, just one open and then ..... you know. And I suppose that what they are now working with, will be more than enough, just because already it is quite good.

I’m not shocked at all. At the same time one is able to get a really nice upgrade. But other companyes are giving to you so ’much more’(sony) with a -new model-. This is the main reason why lot of people get it wrong, they compare wrong things against each other, while still looking pentax as a brand that does same as others, but cheaper. Now when they are not offering what a lot of tech guys are waiting for, what they would maybe buy when it is discontinued, they are upset because their wishes are not met.

This is what you are surprised of?

Or there might be so much new tech in that new camera that they have to test and work with it much more than they thought, and that is why it take so long. Because they don't throw halfbaked product out just because it need to be there yesterday and then slowly patch it together with FW updates :)

Well that SR is in one lens. And that is because sensor is not moving (untill now by Fuji, still might not be easy).

Main advantage when shooting with Pentax, compared to almost any brand.
Someone: Wow! That is awesome photo! You must have amazing camera!?
You: No, yes it is but that was my effort there.
Someone: No but these modern cameras have amazing Eye AF and all, so photographers don’t have to do much anymore. Anyone could be a photographer!
You: Yes, great! It is fun too.
Someone: so what are you shooting with?
You:Pentax
Someone: what..oh, wow. You should get Sony or Canon or, I’v heard.......

This was ofcourse imagined dialog.

What I would take on why Pentax/Ricoh have not yet come up with new model. It is because they want to tacle big issues what has been there, like AF and general performance, while still keeping on eye with what is going on. And they want to make it as good as possible. Because it will be used in all models...new tech I mean.

Having taken a look of big issues in there new big MILC like Z7, S1 series, insufficent models from Canon (They give frequent updates what they must also because they cooked halfbaked product). And making/promising high ens models in future just because...don’t really know If Ricoh could take risk like that, or if they should.
