The 15mm Limited controls my mind - club

My favorite lens, the DA 15 limited, doing something seasonal. Christmas markets are a big thing in Germany. According to my German sources, the markets exist for one and only purpose: so that people could have a good reason to drink glühwein (with plenty of alcohol). The shot below is from Bremen.

I was so focused on what really matters that I actually forgot to take a proper photo of the background. :o
I had taken one several hours before the shot posted, but it was during daylight and not as spectacular. Fortunately I did have a good enough night shot from a different angle, so I don't have to bang my head to a wall.

Brussels, Belgium, during light snowing. This one has been cropped quite a bit.

Ideally test them both. However, that might not be possible.

So, ask yourself if you what are you going to use the lens for. Do you really need f2.8 or would f4 be enough? I rarely use my 15 below f8 and the results wide open at f4 are acceptable to my standards.

Does size matter? There is a big difference between the size and weight of the two.

I can't compare the image quality, but the 15 yields spectacular results as showcased in this thread.

I advise to stop arguing with the user. With pictures like that, the user is right. Do not try to take the 15 ltd off the K7.

Here's one from Leipzig, Germany. Taken yesterday with the 15 ltd and K7.

Oh dear, what did I start with the spontaneous "Hey, I've got a half consumed beer and a camera+15 with me" shot.

No beer with me this time. I've been spending two nights out monkeying around with my Gorillapod. The 15 limited, being such an addictive lens, has been sitting in front of my camera for the most of the time. Here's some captures of Braunschweig, Germany, after dark with the 15mm.

Weimarer Zwiebelmarkt (if I've written it correctly) is a onion festival market thingy held once a year in Weimar, Germany. In addition to onions, it naturally contains a lot of beer and sausages. The mug contains a local Bock beer, a strong lager. 6.5% in that case. So yes, it was fun.

I like the bokeh on that one! It somehow draws my eye back to the middle if I wander off subject, at least on the left side.

Maybe I should have tried the market photo at f4. On the other hand the background was far and being a travel photo for my blog, I also wanted to show some background detail... Definately need to play around with the settings a bit more. Learning all the time. :)

I'll see your point for not being able to resist the temptation. :D

Your comment about the bokeh got me thinking that there aren't too many bokeh shots in this thread. Here's one it took at f5.6 at Weimarer Zwiebelmarkt on last weekend.

There are some bright halos on the right, but other than that the bokeh looks ok to my eyes.

Some amazing photos in this thread! Pushed me to the right direction when choosing between the 15 and 21. Although in the end I think I would have chosen the 15 anyway, because I was constantly finding myself using the kit lens at 18 mm and backing off. The 15 mm seems about right. However, it does make me want to shoot towards the sun all the time. I think it is controlling my mind or something.

Anyway, that is a good way to transform common tourist shots into something a bit more unique.
