Heh-heh, what a badass lens this is! I knew it was supposed to be big and heavy, but the fricking lens is about the size and weight of my K-5 body. ;) Build quality seems pretty good and since this is my first HSM lens, I'm really enjoying the quietness and speed of AF. Can't really comment yet on the IQ, but it seems to focus fairly accurately even with the default settings.
So far I like it, but I'm not sure if I'd like to drag the lens along for extended periods of time, like on a holiday trip.

To my great surprise I just bought my first Sigma lens today! 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM - Standard Zoom Lenses - SigmaPhoto.com
It's the HSM version of the 24-70mm f/2.8 Sigma zoom for Pentax. Admittedly I have been thinking about getting a faster zoom lens for indoors shooting and also one with a quiet AF mechanism since until now I've only owned screw AF lenses. But this came as a surprise nevertheless. I wasn't going to invest in Pentax-related stuff at the moment and probably not in DSLR gear. Not to mention buyng a FF lens when Pentax is never going to release a suitable camera body.
But after all, the lens was a relative bargain (some 500€ new from a reputable store as the HSM lens tends to cost some $900 or 800€) and I think that in the planned use (general indoors photography, children's school performances and such), the focal length range is probably more suitable than some 16-50mm or 50-135mm. And it has the HSM motor to boot, since I still don't trust SDM. Interesting to see the lens. Should arrive in a day or two.

You know there's a K-mount version of the Helios as well, called Helios 44-4K.

Wow. I just ordered the same camera. I was pondering which version to get, the Motorsports version or the Outdoors one. Ended up ordering the Motorsports one. Sounds like a great gadget, even though I'm not sure what I'll do with it.

A very very nice lens, this 30mm pancake. The camera is ugly as hell, but surprisingly nice to hold and use. Even my largish claws can grab it quite nicely. The UI is clear and intutive. This camera with the single "normal" lens will be my travel companion for now. Time will tell where Samsung NX is heading and if I'll invest any more in it.
