Got it working now.
The shop had put some duff batteries in.
Just enough power to turn the lights on but nothing else.

Thanks for the link too.
I`ve now connected the winder to a camera already loaded with film and can see that although all lights are on and the winder is working its not moving the mirror.
I`ll have another look.

Ps I normally shoot manual cameras and always use the Sunny 16 rule so I`m ok with that.
Although its more like Sunny 11 over here.
Yesterday it was Sunny 8 :)

Well I`ve searched without success so I`ll have to ask :)
I`ve just purchased a winder for my ME.
Don`t know which one though.
Apart from the off ,C and S buttons which I assume are continuous and single shot there is another small button on the inside of the grip which switches the symbol in the small screen from Auto to 125 x I can`t figure out its purpose.
I know I`m going to sound stupid but there it is.
Whilst I`m at it I assume that the winder has to be disconnected so as to engage the film release on the base for rewinding.:o
It seems to be firing although I`ve not notice the film counter moving.
