If it fits the K-7, it will fit the K-5. They use the same battery grip.

The grip looks quite similar to the DealExtreme one, so is quite possibly the type 2 one; can't comment on the battery though.

Nope, never had a problem in that regard with both grips.

After about 20 months, my DealExtreme Battery Grip isn't functional anymore: the ISO button stopped responding, and then, not long after, fell out. My solution: just ordered another one from them. Apart from that though, that grip has served me just fine.
Also, I do have a feeling there's two versions of the DealExtreme Battery Grip; or at least they've improved it over time. I've got two of them (for 2 bodies), the first one being the one mentioned above (bought Jan 2010), and the second (bought Mar 2011). The markings on the first one rubbed off a few weeks in, and the plastic is a bit more glossy and shiny.

I've bought the DealExtreme battery grip twice, sent to Sydney, and it's been a while since I got them (start of the year)so my memory's a bit hazy but:
- the first time, they didn't actually have it in stock, and I had to wait about 1 month. But once they had it in stock and dispatched it off to me, I got it pretty soon after
- the second time, they had it in stock, and I'm pretty sure it got to me in about 2 weeks or so.

It depends where you live; not everyone lives in America. For me,
Getting the genuine D-BG4 from B&H: ~$310 AUD (That's 25% of what I paid for my K-7...)
Getting the genuine D-BG4 locally: ~$370 AUD
Getting my DealExtreme battery grip: ~$61 AUD.
