The third picture was done by using layers and a mask of the foreground plant in photoshop. First I made a copy of the foreground layer. In the second (background) layer a "swirl" (or whatever the name was) filter was used . Then I used a gradient to gradually change the foreground layer into the background layer. But the masked foreground plant was excluded from this process. After that I made the second layer black & white and used a gradient again for a smooth transition between foreground and background layer. So no flash was used! I hope this explanation makes sense to you.

All three pictures were taken with the DA 35 macro limited. The first one is a pseudo-HDR (HDR based on one picture), the second is ... see for yourself. For the third: is the post-processing a little overdone or is it just the way you like it?
