Drove down to Bannack state park yesterday (it's an old mining ghost town, similar to Bodie CA, but not as hard to get to). The mix of fall colors, overcast shade, circular polarizer made PP in Lightroom almost HDR like, but I don't hate the effect, and the old wood has a strong contrast as well. Winter is coming way too soon for my liking in western Montana though, as it was snowing at higher elevations. First time I've used my Sigma in probably over a year, I forgot how much I like super wides. |

Nothing as nice as some pics people has posted lately, but I had to get out of town, even only 20 miles north, I just liked these trees, almost spooky looking.
And this isn't a 10-20 capture (I took it with my 60-300mm Tamron), but the mountains were pretty yesterday. |

Spent this weekend over in Owens Valley, cutting across the Tioga Pass in Yosemite to get there, and then coming back around through the Mojave.
First couple attachments are from Tioga Pass, middle two are from Bodie, and the last is the soul consoling tower (obelisk) at Manzanar.

Part of it, from the Zoo website: Quote: The Arctic Ring of Life is North America’s largest polar bear exhibit, which also houses arctic foxes and seals. This state-of-the-art, $14.9 million, interactive facility encompasses over four acres of outdoor and indoor exhibits. The most unique feature of the Arctic Ring of Life is the spectacular 70-foot-long Frederick and Barbara Erb Polar Passage, a clear tunnel that winds through a vast underwater marine environment. This 12-foot-wide, 8-foot-tall tunnel takes visitors underneath diving and swimming polar bears and seals! The bears and seals are separated from each other by a transparent barrier but appear to share one aquatic environment. Visitors then arrive in an "ice world", passing through a frigid ice cave and finally entering the Exploration Station with Arctic Ring of Life - Detroit Zoo

You won't be disappointed (at least I hope not).
It's my favorite lens, only disconcerting issue, is the barrel distortion at 10mm, as well as some vignetting, but I think that's the nature of the beast. I like it more with a circular polarizer, makes landscapes really pop.

I also brought along my kit lens and Adaptall 60-300, but never used either one more than for a couple shots from each. Additionally, I usually PP in Lightroom, but I'm really impressed with how my new to me (bought Nov. 2010) K20D handled these, just straight from the camera.
Edit: Forgot to mention, this was yesterday afternoon at Fort Point in San Francisco.
