Long exposure / provia 200 : how to know the good exposure compensation ?

I use Superia 200; print film is pretty forgiving with exposure times. When doing night shots, which are usually less than a minute in fairly well-lit harbours, I usually add half a stop to everything. If it's particularly dark I might add a whole stop.
If you have a scanner you can always tweak a little bit to do reprints. Or, if you have them printed at a lab, you could ask them to print a little lighter or darker to adjust the prints.
