Well, mirrorless is quite well established, and from the longer view it's not all that evolutionary upstream from a DSLR. I don't think neither will be extinct for a couple of decades, but nobody can predict the future, so who knows?
To me, the more interesting imaging trends involve products like GoPro and GoogleGlass. Separating the process of capturing an image from the stream of life from streaming life itself is going to be more blurred. It will take a while to work out the social contract that currently hinders a product like GoogleGlass, but after so many iterations and refinements, it will catch on big. There's too much money to be made to let our social mores get in the way.
