A bit more fun with the Spottie, expired Tmax 100 and the 50mm f1.4. Developed in HC-110 (H) and scanned on the V600.

Lucked into some expired Delta-400 in an old bulk loader last month, with unopened 100' rolls of Pan-F and Tmax-100 on the side. No idea how it was stored. Expiry dates are 1989 and 1990. Pretty old stuff but I think the grain has a certain charm. Wondering what tips are out there for working with old b/w film in HC-110 (currently using dilution H). Cheers...

Spotmatic with 28mm f3.5 and 85mm f1.9, overcast skies.

Thanks for the link, and I hope the shoulder is better soon. The HC-110 is really predictable/repeatable stuff. Here's another RR80S shot from the same roll. Super-Tak 28mm f3.5 - Grey rainy weather that day.

Hi Steve. I am addicted to the way this film handles. Usual process here is dilution-H for 14 or 15 minutes at 20 degrees, exposed at box speed and metered for the shadows. What do you find works?

Bright sun and time off finally coincided to let the experiments continue. This time around I tried 12 min instead of 15 in HC-110 dilution H. The goal was less blocking up of the highlights with the obvious tradeoff of shadow detail. Next roll will be developed for slightly more time as the shadows could be better and the highlights still have room at the top of the curve. Suggestions welcome!

Super-Tak 28mm f3.5 on the Spotmatic, f8.

Thanks Steve, I'll look and see if the local shop carries it. Gentle agitation for sure! I think you and Nesster have a good point - less dev time might be what I'm looking for here. 2 more rolls of RR 80s in 35mm to go and hoping for sun this coming weekend. This film in 120 really sings in my old 6x9 folder too, just need to get the highs under control while keeping the shadows. This is a shot from last week, same camera & process, no post. Looking forward to seeing your results from the test setup.

RR 80s was at box speed (80) with dev times from Massive at 20 degrees. It seems to work best with very gentle agitation - 2x to start, then once ever so gently every 3 minutes. Missed the pre-rinse on this roll and it didn't seem to matter. Shadow detail usually comes out pretty good. The highs get sketchy in a hurry with too much agitation. Was wondering what other developers would be easy and effective with this wonderful film.

Cheers,

Earle
