Thanks for the details on the adapter. I have used mine with lenses with an apeture ring. I'll have to give it a try with one of my DA lenses.

Just beautiful shots - the classic Pentax rendering still shines through!

I have an adapter like you explain, but have never tried it on a da lens without aperture ring yet. How do you find it works? Do just move the lever a little and take a guess where your apeture is?

Yeah - @300mm wide open I am also very impressed especially being hand held. Here are a couple more shots from that day that are not cropped:

Also what has impressed me is I bought my wife a G3 w/45-200 a couple months ago. She is basically a point & shooter, but the combo has generated some very impressive shots in her hands:

While I really like both camera setups, I still just can't let my Pentax gear go for some reason. I've just begun to work with the Panny equipment and know I can do even better with some time and experimentation. So in the meantime I am stuck in a 2 system fold and don't know which way to proceed - so I just use both!

Cross posting from another thread......I tried a very non-scientific test the other day to compare my Pentax and Panasonic setups. I had a juvenile finch stay still at one of my feeders for 1/2 hour, so that was a good a subject as any.

First image - Pentax K-5 w/FA*300 4.5
Second image - Panasonic GH2 w/100-300

Both images heavily cropped (almost 3x)

Needless to say, I am just blown away with the detail of the Panny when put up against the K-5 and a legendary Pentax lens.

I've taken up an M4/3 system as a secondary system along with my Pentax gear. I've always wanted a GH2 and could finally afford it with a great deal a couple months ago. I'm having a blast learning the new camera - it is actually starting to get difficult as to which camera I will pick up. One of the main reasons for my trying the M4/3's out is I now have RA and there are some days that I just don't have the strength in my hands to pick the K-5 up - partially due to the fact that I shoot almost exclusively long lenses. The GH2 w/100-300 has allowed me to shot on days where I couldn't even pick up a camera before.

But, my main reason for posting this here, is that my wife has become involved with my hobby with is fantastic. About a month ago I surprised her with a G3 w/45-200, and she has just taken off with it. In the evening when I process our images, I am constantly floored by the IQ and color depth that the combo is giving. She is mostly and point & shooter right now so I have the G3 set on "P" mode with a couple tweaks. Here I share one of her pics - funny that I don't have any of my own to share right now!

She is basically documenting all the flowers that she grows here at home - a few more if anyone is interested:

You're welcome! I thought it was an interesting experiment.

I am not much of a wide shooter - take mostly wildlife and close-up images, so for now the 14mm on m43 will do. And I am hoping for not too much LBA with the GH2. I just love my K-5 and the lens selection I have. But because of some physical limitations I have as of late, I am looking for a nice small setup that will give me the same control as the k-5. I am trying out the Gh2 along side my current gear - I don't expect it to replace my Pentax gear. But, with the unknown future of Pentax, I want to get started in a second system. I have no reason to want to move to a FF setup, so the K-5 might be the end of the line for me for a dslr - I think that mirrorless will move forward and wanted to try it out.

And yes, an old fogie myself, will always need that viewfinder. The evf on the GH2 was kind of a shock when I first looked through it, but am really getting to like it. Case and point - when I shot those test images, I switched the viewfinder view to one of the many grid styles available in the menu so it was easy to center all the images the same - pretty neat! You can also see the different effects of different white balance settings in real time in the viewfinder - als a neat feature.

I will never part with my K-5, but am slowly gathering a nice m43 kit while slimming down my Pentax kit. This way I am kind of aligned ahead of time if I want to change direction equipment wise in the future.

I performed a little experiment which I thought was kind of interesting.

In the "your latest acquisition" thread, I posted about my new GH2. Member excanonfd asked about the field of view in wide angle between the APS-C and M43 format. This is by no means a proper scientific test, and only had the tools on hand to use - and no artistic value whatsoever! I thought that this belonged here in the M43 thread.

I took a shot of our garden shed standing in the exact same position (leaning against a tree) and used the center of the wreath on the door as a center focal point for all 3 shots.

In order as viewed:
1st shot K-5 w/16-45 @16mm
2nd shot GH2 w/14-140 @14mm
3rd shot GH2 w/16-45 @16mm (love having the K-M43 adapter!)
