I like this thread in that we can see different species from different parts of the country.
The Sycamore around here are found along river banks and swamps so they like it wet. Because of this they are very fast growing, and have a shallow root system in spongy ground - quick to grow but easy to fall.
I'm currently reading a book that takes place mainly in west Texas - the descriptions with the lack of trees is so different from where I live.

We had a very windy rain overnight. Looking out this morning with the sun just coming up over the mountains, these Sycamore trees really stood out. They have a real flaky bark which it seems to shed each year. The wind and rain last night took all the bark off all at once. Then with the sun shining on them this morning they really stood out. The pics don't quite do what I actually saw - need more practice at that!

Very nice Sagitta. I've been practicing getting a very light HDR touch on some of my photos - yours is just right. Really pops for me!

Nice shot with the contrasting colors Frank. While the fall color are beautiful, I am so very glad to be going the opposite way here into spring instead of fall!

Went for a little walk this morning around the property. Heavily overcast made for muted colors.
Our Red Maple - pretty neat in that it has fall colors in the spring. I am always amazed at how symmetrical this tree is without ever being pruned. It is ~50' tall and 40' in diameter:
Also the same with this evergreen - don't know how it's kept such a perfect shape - ~80' tall:
And a good spring for the apple blossoms - hope they don't get frosted like they usually do. And please excuse the lack of pruning on my part:
