my uncle gave a wonderful gift a few months ago. fuji gsw390III. its a medium format rangefinder. ran a few rolls through it with nice results but i wasnt blown away. however i recently shot a roll of only portraits with it. i can safely say this camera is now designated for portraits only. shocked at the sharpness and contrast.

i few shots from a roll or two shot through a borrowed yashica TLR. while i thought the TLR was fun to use (also quite challenging), i am not too pleased with the results. my first medium format experience. could just be that the yashica has a poor quality lens, as opposed to a rolleiflex. or maybe the scans from the lab are really low resolution. still got a few funs snaps.

wombat i dont know where songbo is... that picture is from Busan, South Korea. thanks for the help guys. its seems that most folks feel that strange effect is due to a development error. i dont develop my own film. these were however developed in a pro lab (quite expensive i might add!) i plan to develop my own photos when i return home. i just cant justify buying the chemicals when i know i will relocate sooner rather than later.

so my friend let me borrow her dad yashica 635 tlr (rolleiflex copy) and i took a few rolls. two of them came out with nice results (kodak t-max 400 and acros 100) but the ilford hp5 plus 400 has these strange vertical "splotches". any ideas what it might be? the film was not expired. bad scan???

i dont really know about the scanning. i took it to my local place in korea. (i dont speak korean) they usually do a fine job. never had any problems before. i guess i will save the negatives and if i ever get around to buying a scanner i will try them again? thanks!

here are some examples of my messed up shots. i tried to compare some of the negatives. ***i have no idea how to "read" a negative*** the negatives look somewhat similar. perhaps a bit different from another roll. i guess its worth noting that some of the exposures were worse that others. most of them if i just tuned the contrast and saturation down, came to bit of a more nuetral tone. ideas???

hey guys i had a question about expired film. what are some of the results of using expired film. i just took a vacation and got my film back. one of the rolls has a SERIOUS blue tint to it. the skys are completely saturated and the contrast might be pretty messed up too. i honestly dont even know if the film was expired or not. or i heard the same results can also occur if the lab used auto color correction when the scanned the negatives. any ideas? i will put up an example or two later. thanks.

here are another few from a different lomography film. this one is an "extended range" redscale the recommends metering anywhere from 50-200iso. i prefer the ones shot at lower iso. but the crazy red saturation is also pretty cool. enjoy? (if at all possible)

i honestly have no idea about the overexposure. this was my first time using any film with an iso below 200. i though 64iso meant i could shoot in direct sunlight easily. but also tungsten film is a bit different than normal color film. so my answer... i dont know. haha.

here are a few shots from my first roll of Lomography x-tungsten 64iso. i tried shooting with this metered at 64-100 and still the results were slightly overexposed. i will shoot the next roll at 200 if im in direct sunlight. also i boosted the saturation a bit because i like the look of it. it gives the pictures the blueish tones i was expecting to get without any post processing. anyway interesting film for sure.

i went a little on the adventurous side and bought two 3-packs of "alternative film" from lomography. some x-tungsten 64, and XR (extended range) redscale 50-200. anyone have any experience shooting with these types of film? seems like both have their subdued characteristics when shot at low ISO but when slighty underexposed they give some pretty extreme colors. thoughts? advice? ill be sure to post some pictures if my results turn out alright.

is anyone down/game for a film swap? i am currently living in south korea and i shot a roll of Kodak Colorplus 200 exposed at 400. who wants to put some "non korean" images overtop of mine and see what kind of funky results we get? I love the idea of a film swap and i would prefer to swap with somewho who is going to take very "non korean" images to contrast with mine. any takers??? send me a P.M. and maybe our photographic forces can combine to create some strange images.... can i can a "heck yes?"

since this is a film thread, i just thought i would throw this out there... what is your favorite film to shoot with. lets keep this current, im sure a lot of you had a "go-to" film that is no longer in production. lets face it we are a dying breed. what is still being made that gives you your favorite results(even if they are querky or super grainy)???

still trying to figure out film. its pretty tricky (I.e. i loaded about three rolls of film incorrectly before i started to actually expose them). but for me its more fun than digital because i have to stop and think instead of just click away at top speed. any thoughts, comments, harsh criticisms?

hey guys. so i recently bought an MX from a forum member. its waiting for me at home (im currently in south korea for the next week). ive never shot film before (except little toy cameras i had as a child!) basically i am saying that i know nothing!!! so i really like this thread. some amazing shots for sure. the thing i noticed is that there seems to be as much talk about the films you used as the lens or body. i intend on shooting only B+W film. can someone suggest some of the best BW films for a begginer? i will taking a trip to el salvador in about two weeks so i dont have time to do research and find the best film for me. also if the film is somewhat rare will i be able to buy it in the local pharmacy or drug store? if i want a decent film do i have to go to a dedicated camera shop?

please help! i know you can!!!!

cheers.
