Travelling on the MV Coho from Port Angeles to Victoria. Coming back to the island from Oregon, the ferry allows us to skip Tacoma, Seattle and Vancouver, and all the city traffic.

I remember driving and riding in some of the really heavy, non-power steering cars. You'd float along, and it was great until you got to sharp corners.
Here are a couple of pics of a '54 Mercury convertible - special body style with the extended fenders enclosing the continental kit. This car was put together from two bodies that were out in the bush on a farm outside Fort St. John. The farmer wouldn't let any trees be removed, so the cars were lifted out with a crane.

I agree with Paul - I think a '66. But I'm not a Chevy expert.
Now for something completely different - how do you get a floatplane into the water? Lots of floatplanes here in BC, and you take a truck or car with front-wheel drive, take off the back or box, and attach what looks like an extended forklift on the front. The first one looks to be purpose-built.

Did someone say "Tillamook"?
Here are a few recent photos. Just for a little background; My wife Bonnie and I join a number of friends travelling down to Ashland every few of years
to take in some plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. And why would we not drive down the coast, instead of I5? Crab, wine, cheese, beer!
As well, Bonnie and I were silly enough to get married on January 8th, and our honeymoon was a trip through Oregon - I'll have to find a pic of our '67 Beaumont (basically a US Chevy Malibu). As it turned out, we got stranded for a night in Tillamook as rain storms closed every road leaving Tillamook!
Mountain Huckleberry, anyone?

Those rails look like they are handling a lot of heavy and slow loads.

Great idea, Paul - a look at some of our old cars.
My old car - a 2004 Honda S2000 - out of all the cars I've had, this was probably the car that was the most fun to drive. 240 hp from 135 Cubic inches! Perfect for roads like the Hope-Princeton, the North Cascades Hwy, or Hwy 66 from Ashland to Klamath Falls - great fun. (Not a Pentax photo, but a Pentaxian.)
