Taken with the K-S2. Also, in my other shots (not this one), I observed the foliage is better handled by the K-S2 compared when I used the lens with the K-30 and K-x. I used to hate using the Sigma lens when taking photos that have foliage. Careful Where You Stand by Chester Castillo, on Flickr

Love the composition and the HDR looks very natural! ---------- Post added 08-18-15 at 03:08 PM ---------- The very few times that I'm able to take night photos. Taken a day before the blue moon last July. Blood Red Monoliths by Chester Castillo, on Flickr |

These kids along with 4 other kids were playing with this agile brown "monster" which they call "Puppy". They would run on the paved roads and on top of the concrete barriers lining the lakeside to escape from Puppy's fury. Else, if Puppy catches them they would get a playful bite on the leg from this "menacing" pup. Three of the kids had the smarts to take refuge on the nearby boat where Puppy has no idea how to get into. In Peril of "Puppy's" Fury by Chester Castillo, on Flickr

Ken, this is really nice! Is the bridge a direct access (no need for stairs) from Merlion Park?

Wow! This is amazingly creative! Genius!
It makes me realize I'm just a mere mortal when it comes to photography. I'll second Tamia, that if ever there's a chance I'd be at your area (which is about 1%) I'd like to seriously enroll in one of your classes Mike. Even if it's just to see how you shoot these masterpieces. :)

This is a job well done! I love the composition, details and the processing! And again, as I have quoted in one of your posts before I am amazed by the front to back sharpness. :) ---------- Post added 01-09-15 at 11:51 AM ----------
Ken, both lovely shots! I am missing shooting in Singapore! Hopefully I can get back there for a vacation at least and shoot in those beautiful places. :)

I love the tones, colors, shadows and your composition here! And that front to back sharpness is superb! How do you do these? Which part of the scene are you focusing? Which aperture are you shooting? And is this the f3.5 version or variable aperture lens? Sorry for a lot of questions. Thanks!

Welcome to the club Arizona Dave! You have a very strong composition in those photos! I'm not a fan of HDR (though I do it sometimes), I must admit the HDRs you applied are NOT over the top (which I tend to like), but I am still wondering how they would look like if none was applied. As I have said the composition is awesome, please post more photos with this lens. :)
Regards,
Chester

Nice to see this thread still oozing with beautiful photos! I haven't been shooting lately, but here is a photo from almost 4 weeks ago. This one is at 18mm, I usually shoot at the wide end. :) An Impressionist's Puddle of Water by drivingback, on Flickr

When using this lens on my K-30, I always mount it on a tripod so I don't have problems with my hands touching the focus ring. Even in the few times that I shoot with it handheld my left hand is palming the base of the camera so my fingers are at the zoom ring. :)

Thank you Adinfinitum! I was thinking the same way that it would be nice in B&W. But when I convert it, it seems not as good, but maybe that's because I'm not good with B&W conversion. I need to learn to properly convert to B&W. :) One thing I like about the colored version though is the coldness of the atmosphere that suits the long exposure I set for the waves and the solitary lamp post.

I like how you composed your foreground here. If it were me I would be force to frame only the building and end up with an uninteresting photo. But your photo is beautifully taken. :)

Thank you adinfinitum, jva59 & disco_owner! That shot at the beach I guess is one of the prime example why we as photographers keep coming back to the same place over and over again. As syncguy said there is always something different in photography. In the case of that scene, the tide could be different, the cloud formation, the light varies & the elements you see on the beach. And even if it does not change, we can only blame our imagination for "boring" or limiting us. That's why I love photography because it teaches us patience and perseverance. :)

Please don't include me in "us" as well. I am never bored with Ken's photos.
Not all photographers are gifted with the caliber of Ken's artistry. Not even I could say I am that good or will ever be that good. So, I always enjoy his photos in this thread. Keep up the great work Ken!
So in conclusion, I hope nanhi gets bored as well with this shot I had last week. :p
