Yeah I know, but I was talking mainstream where The normal Joe can afford them.
The higher end is where the manufacturers like to introduce the new stuff then it trickles down to the vehicles that the average person can afford .Most of what was brought out as coming down the pike is already out in 1 or 2 models but is planned to be brought out as standard in a short time.

We have a few that sell pure gasoline most sell only the 10% blended and more are selling 15% blend I gassed my truck today and noticed the station had 15% blend in separate hoses with warnings all over it and that part in yellow so as not to get it confused with the reg blend. It was roughly 70 cents a gallon cheaper than regular.
I just had to get a new mower for my daughters house. It is a Murray It says not to use Premium or gasohol with higher than 10% alcohol. Avoid fuel with 15% or higher alcohol mixture.

One thing to remember is that as the cars get more complecated so do the tools required to repair them. I am a repair tec. I have over $250,000 USD tied up in tools to repair the autos. I don't own the shop just work there. Most mechanics and bodymen have a small fortune tied up in tools. The shops have even more tied up. For every new tech. advancement it means adding more tools to the arsenal. more money gone. For a simple repair There can easily have been 1,000 dollars of tools used plus the rest of the overhead.

I think it has been longer than that. I remember a chain gas station that sold gas at almost half the cost of others It was cut with alcohol. The gas mileage was a lot worse than straight gas. That was back when gas was 25 cents a gallon Even now gas mileage is worse with the blended over straight. I just have trouble spending an extra 75 cents or more a gallon for the pure stuff.

I am ready to retire. Cars are not as much fun to repair as they were 40+ years ago.. Most tech is in more airbags-safety equipment, new chemicals , and new materials to learn how to and repair . new strength steels and high strength steel in places they have not been before. most of it is boring for most folks . Things like manufacturers are starting to add a 3rd front rail in their cars. The U.S. will be converting over to a different freon suppose to be safer for the enviro. One manufacturer started putting it in one of their new models in 2014.Like i said most is boring. They are working on proper repair procedures for carbon fiber panels that will last , and a way to reduce cost of production. then plan on using it in autos. One manufacturer has developed a way to married aluminum and steel in their engine cradle . 4 hour class and till something jogs a memory, I have temp forgotten a lot of it:o

Agreed ethanol just doesn't have the energy that oil does
.
Not really. The cars today weight half again- to double what they did 20 years ago. Thanks to all the safety equipment, wiring, computers, etc. I had to spend the day in class yesterday to learn to repair the 2015 F-150. It has an aluminum body. weighs 700 lbs less than the 2014 and is still double the weight of its great-great-great-great granddaddy the 1948 F-1

Yeah.... My 95 six banger pickup truck gets 18 on the highway. which is what I am getting around town with the new vehicle.

We just had to buy a new vehicle. We got a Flex Fuel one. It is rated at 19 mpg on reg E-10 fuel, But only 14mpg on E-15. I for one do not plan on purchasing E15 fuel if I can avoid it
