Havenīt really used my Mamiya C330. Itīs a nice camera and the results are good, but somehow I end up using my Pentax 6x7 or bronica gs-1 more often.

This was with the 105mm f3.5 blue dot lens wide open on fp4+. Semi-stand in rodinal 1:100 for 60 minutes.

Very good detail and clarity on these shots! How do you "scan" with your K-3? Do you have some kind of negative holder? What kind of macro lens are you using?

Itīs been a while since I last posted here. Here are some photos from a recent trip. All with Me super and pentax A50mm 17. lens.

Tri-x 400 @ 1600, developed in Rodinal 1:100, semi stand for 60 minutes. 10 inversions at the beginning and around 30 min.
Some of them came a bit dusty at the scanning but I donīt mind.

Btw, that soft lens would be really ideal for some moody portraits!

Very nice shots here recently! Really like that 6x12 format, Colton. And Kris, very nice tones and composition.

Winter is here, and itīs quite boring when the light is usually very flat. Anyway, hereīs some shots from the shores of Helsinki with my frozen bronica.

I remember reading somewhere that you need to use external finder to shoot with this lens. Is it awkward to use? Is it difficult to compose a shot using it?

Tuco,

Thanks a lot for the information. Thereīs still a lot for me to learn about using strobes. So far I have only used one or two strobes with softboxes and umbrellas. I would need a few more for hairlight and to light the background. Only problem is the space, I need a bigger room for my studio!

Very nice, Tuco!

I like the shadows in the eyes.. and I have to say that I like this more than the D600 version... :)

Iīm curious to know how you placed the strobes? Did you use softboxes or umbrellas?

Thanks for the kind comments, Henk and Hinman.

I just use the epson software on professional mode. I really like it. Itīs simple and easy to use. I have tried Vuescan and some other software, but couldnīt see any difference with the results.

I received some Tmax 400 bulk film that had expired 10 years ago. I had my doubts wether or not it will work as it had NOT been kept in the cold, but in room temperature. The light is mostly gone from this hemisphere so I had to even push it a few stops from 400 to 1600. I also read that you should not do this kind of push developing on rodinal... so I had very, very low expectations of the outcome..but -surprise, surprise- it works! So, now I have 30 metres of b&w film for free! :)

Thanks for your comments everybody!

Well, my 60 minute rodinal development is semi-stand:

- First pour water into containers and let it stand for a while to let the temperature settle to room temp. Normally temperature is around 23 degrees of celsius.

- Mix the rodinal solution and pour it into developing tank

- Make proper inversions for one minute and let the tank stand for 30 minutes, then make 10 inversions and let it stand for another 30 minutes.

- Use water as a stopper for 15 inversions

- After that add the fix and do 4 inversions per minute for 8 minutes in total

- Rinse with water: 5 inverions and change-10 inversions and change- 15 inversions and change

- Final rinse with deionized water and hang to dry

This is the protocol that has worked for me. I tried to do reduce the inversons in the middle to 3, but the results didnīt look as good as with 10 inversions.

Very nice, Colton!

Hereīs a few more from the same roll. The first one is my first ever vertical shot taken with the Bronica. It was quite tricky with the waist level finder, but it worked ok in the end.

Very interesting test. I have not developed any rolls from the Pentax yet, but I am aware of the massive mirror movements. Pressing the shutter makes impressive Ka-Chunk! that makes people around you run for cover. So far I have kept the 1/60 as the lowest limit. Will have to see how the results look like after I get them developed.

Yes, but I only have the waist level finder and no grip for the Bronica. I like how I can hold and operate the Pentax 6x7 like any other SLR. Thereīs also the lack of fast lenses on the Bronica system that limits itīs use. The Bronica is very nice camera and the leaf shutter lenses make it quite ideal to use with strobes.

Tuco, Phil, and Henk thanks a lot! I really enjoy film and the 6x7 format! :)

I just purchased a Pentax 6x7 with TTL prism and 105/2.4 for a song. Itīs very different beast from the Bronica. The build quality is absolutely stunning. Wish all cameras were built like this. In the future Iīll keep my Bronica for tripod work and use the pentax for hand held shooting.

I have been quite busy lately, and just had enough time to finally develop the last roll from my trip to the abandoned Patarei prison.

Thanks,

I feel that there is still a lot to learn, and feel like trying every format out there as long as it shoots film. But, yes itīs good to remember that setting up the camera in LF world requires more time and effort. Actually this might be ok for my style of shooting... on the other hand, Iīm also tempted to try out more compact MF rangefinders or even 35mm rangefinders...( especially the overpriced "red dot" rangefinders that are made in Germany. :))
