The "P" is the same as Pentax's "A", it's Ricoh's abbreviation for their lens automation - if the lens does not have a "P" where you would normally see the "A" on the aperture ring for Pentax lenses, then it is not a "P" or "Rikenon P" lens.
My "Rikenon P 50mm 1.7" replaced my Pentax-M 1.7 50mm a while ago... ;)

IMHO, the Rikenon 50/1.7's is one of the best sleeper lenses one can buy. I shoot with the 50/1.7 P all the time, it has stellar performance and is sharp throughout, and super sharp between 5.6 and 11. This lens has performed so well for me I actually bought another one as a backup... :cool:
