Bonjour y'all ...
Just a quick drop-by to say "hi" and to let everyone know that we are fine in Poitiers.
One week of confinement under the belt and it looks like we will have five more to do (minimum until the end of April) ... the news was just announced.
Luckily we have a big garden and can walk a bit in the neighborhood where there's almost zero traffic ... we are nearly at the end of our cul-de-sac street.
Hope that all are well here and stay well, too. Cheers & hang in there, J

Bonjour les mecs ...
Oops, I did it again.
That is to say to make it into the newspaper. Monday, we installed the winners of the bi-annual photo festival in the lobby of the theater. Here's the article and I am on the far right with a bad hair day in action.
And yes, that is how the group photo was cropped. Jean, Christophe, Daniel and Jean-Marie are headless ... https://www.lanouvellerepublique.fr/vienne/commune/saint-benoit/le-grand-pri...r-fait-la-hune |

Oui, oui, oui, monsieur.
Two "L" shaped blades that cross over each other to form a square aperture just behind the lens mount.
I have been goofing about with these lens on the Fuji X-E2 (APS-C) via a Chinese adapter. Quite fun.
I have also experimented by installing "apertures" inside a 18/2.8 to try to get more DoF and sharpness. Also, I have used binding hole stickers (you know, those white round ones) stuck to the rear element as a substitute aperture. Again, just goofing off ...
I have started a thread and I hope to find enough time to complete all my planned tests and further experiments ... as a mad scientist ;). Pentax-110 system film lenses on APS-C - PentaxForums.com |

Salut,
Hope that all are well and I cannot keep up with y'all ...
I have doing a bit (more) crazy stuff, so I thought that I would share.
Pentax-110 film lens on the K-1.
Here, the 50/2.8 wide open since there is no aperture on these lenses. A quick test image rapidly done in the kitchen. |

No license plates there, so I guess that all of that "WAS" new inventory ... plus I will bet that many will be dried and cleaned then put back on the used market. Maybe a bunch will head to eastern Europe or Russia ... and then be recirculated into western Europe.
My dad, the criminal defense lawyer, had a used car dealer as a constant client and he (and his sons) would buy very high mileage and rather new company cars in states other than Oklahoma.
The scheme was to have a fictitious sale between shell companies where the cars would pass through a Missouri license tag dealer to wash the "high" mileage off the titles. Example, buy a car in Kansas with 150+ K miles on it, then have the "odometer guy" pass by to roll 100+ K off the speedo (this at the time was done in exchange for a piece of paper with Benjamin Franklin's face on it) ... then tag the altered car now with the lower mileage in Missouri and then bring it into Oklahoma to sell retail as a low mileage clean almost new car. Neat, eh.
I even once saw the "odo" guy work his magic in Tulsa at this used dealer's lot ... not really hard to do with the old wheel-dial speedometers of the '70's & 80's.
To close on a happier note, the Feds finally caught this dealer and sons ... and my dad could not save the dealer dad and one of his sons from a free long-term stay in a Federal prison. Happy ending in some respects.

Me neither until I came to France.

Yeah, it was a quirky place indeed ... they said that there was to be an auction(s), but one knows.
I am going up to Paris tomorrow for the weekend to attend a festival with exhibitions and concerts and etc.
If time allows, I may try to pop in on this shop ... on verra (we'll see).

Bonjour y'all ...
Hope that everyone is fine and dandy.
I am just checking in the communicate some news which is a bit "sad" for me ... my favorite film-only "junk" camera shop is closing down and the story made it into the news!
Last time I was there about 3+ years ago, the front door could not openly fully because there was camera gear piled up on the floor blocking its path ... really, the door could only open about half way.
Sorry that the story is in French, but that happens a lot here. The video is worth a worth a "fun" look ... La dernière boutique parisienne de photographie argentique ferme ses portes - France 3 Paris Ile-de-France |

Oui, oui, oui ... I am all hot to trot about this heatwave. The A/C in the big blue whale (a Renault Espace) is KO for the moment and we have no A/C in the house. Nada. Like most homes in France.
The girls took there mattresses and slept on the ground floor were it's much cooler. They have bunk beds and the second floor is quite hot now ... there was a new all time high set yesterday in the south. Around 110° F ... we had high 90's in Poitiers.

Merci ... and the reference to "film paper" was for B&W prints that I made/printed in a darkroom while I was in another club. Hopefully, I will finish my own home darkroom soon. Needs paint finished and installation of some better lighting.
I cannot give at the moment due to medication that I am taking. Nothing serious, just long. I used to give a lot when I was at OU. I even once passed out at the juice bar after giving ... :o

Just for fun, here are a couple of images from the mini expo at today's and yesterday's blood drive in Poitiers. My photo club, Les Photons' and another nearby club were solicited to decorated the blood drive.
All of our club's images are mine, except one, and they were all B&W "street" type scenes of Poitiers. Some film printed on film paper, some film images printed at my local B&M shop and some digital B&W K-1 images. I framed them using thrift store frames that I have bought off and on ... plus some are in more modern frames. It was a good learning experience and I had some good feedback which is always appreciated.

I played center in junior high football and contact was every snap for me. No exceptions. I would have continued except that I broke my foot late one summer in a motorcycle accident, so I was "out" for the following fall season. My mom wouldn't have it. She was right here.
After that I kind of lost the taste of getting crap beat out of me in practices and especially in games. I will never forget that nose guard that outweighed me by at least a hundred pounds. I had to undercut him each snap or get my ass whooped. That was a long game for me.
