yeh with hdr you have to let go to what you would normally expect to see as a photo has less range than our brains are used to seeing and we've grown up with that, and expect it to be so.
hdr has its place-perhaps to compensate for contrast problems with digital(bring back films subtleness) or just the scene it self(bright sky - dark land scape)-saves useing a grad.

in this case my shot was done as an experiment of sorts to see what hdr could do for me-the pp was done half out of nescesity-to minimize the CA problem and half out of -well just cause.
I wasn't aiming for real, if i had i would have used a 30 or so mm and not a 10 fisheye, so real has been thrown out the window already the pp just took another step or two away from real
here's the subject in all its realness shot at 65mm f16@about half a second on a 50-135 .

yes i like the building-it called for hdr and it works, nice one

yeah i think theres two types of pp work the v subtle and the at the top not quite over but right up there.
these fits the later and its not for everyone-i'm not sure if i like it either- i sort of pp'd the nuts off it to hide the CA's, and perhaps, in the process of wanting to go as far away from the viewers thoughts of CA's as possible, going too far

attached is the straight up exp and then the hdr strange how the cloudes wnt darkish

and a crop of the colour one

shot in Ballarat, Vic.
K10, 10-17. Six or so exp
CA's are pretty bad to start with in the contrast areas and HDR emphasizes them, but with a bit of this and that it came up ok-kinda gothic
