I thought with that colour it was a Canon. Looks a lot like a one-off Canon 5600mm lens made for a wealthy person in the Middle East.

Looks like he wanted to advertise which brand he did not trust to be weather proof enough. Should have got a no name brand umbrella.

During WWII in the British Army soldiers extracted the living. The chaplain did the deceased.

Plausible. Brisbane is humid and the lens is aluminium. The black should coat completely but there may have been pinhole failures in coating. Moisture got through and reacted with the aluminium to produce aluminium hydroxide, a white crystal structure 4 times the volume of aluminium, causing further failure of the coating and bits fall off because the crystals are very small and make a fragile structure.

Rubinar should be good. That price is a steal. I have the 1000/10 and it is good, if challenging to use.
Made at Leningrad 3 Optical Factory, with the design done for KGB. Then into private hands in the chaos of the early 90s.

Do the filters feel a bit like plumbing fittings? It could be useful to getting rubber strap wrenches to part them if they jam together.

Norm Augustine based the prediction on the escalating cost/price of fast jets. I went to a presentation he gave in Singapore in 2009, but I remember his prediction being mentioned in an engineering lecture in 1981.

Many countries overcame the pilots jumping to civilian aviation by placing them on long bonds for fast jet pilot training. Have to really want to be in the Air Force. If you want to fly civilian then go to a pay for yourself flight school - ERAU at Daytona Beach is available for Americans. Their flight simulator building is hot because of all the waste heat discharged by the computing power required.

That is bigger than many countries whole Air Force. According to Norm Augustine’s prediction from about 1975 that will be the whole USAF in 2045 and in 2050 the whole USA will be able to afford one plane, not one kind of plane, to be shared by the Air Force, the Navy, the Marines and the Army, depending on the day of the week.

Yes the Mt Kaputar slug. Forgot the name. I got one picture of one on K64 with MX in 1983.

Mistook the names of the ranges I went to on that trip.

A few weeks ago I saw one of the bird in 4,5,6, at my house. I was cutting some branches off a tree which had a lot of blossom on it. While I was in the back yard cutting up the branches small enough to efficiently put them in the bin one of those birds came, apparently to eat from the blossom. The bird was willing to come really close to me, only just out of reach.

Interesting behaviour.

All the people still lived in the old town. The new town was planned.

Some interesting people there when I was there.

Are you sure it is warmer up there at those places?

Nice area. I worked a summer at Leigh Creek, in the coal mine (if it breaks it is coal, if it doesn't it is rocks - 'coal' so defined was shipped tot he power station). After that I had sme money and bought my first Pentax, MX with M50/2. Nice bit of kit.
