the lens is not a macro lens. For pentax mount, there is no such thing as a macro zoom lens. typically, the term macro is used as a marketing term to mean close-focusing, but a true macro lens is one that can attain 1:1 magnification or greater. However, you can get it to focus to 1:1 macro by throwing on some extension tubes :)
