Sony A7II...

Our experience differ. I got A7 first and recently got A6000, I love it for what it is with aps-c in a smaller and lighter body. I have the complete set of Sigma 19, 30, 60 along with E 50 and 55-200. The lenses availability on my E-mount make it a good fit for me to have a6000 as a traveling body. For its price, I have the least complaint. If your expectation that it can get close to your A7mII, you will be disappointed. K-S2 is impressive but f K-S2 has more focal points, I will be more tempted.

I am more in tune with this report from a user renting both A7mII and A6000

It is my personal view: I will not take out my A7 in the rain while I will have more confidence to take out my K-5 in rainy and snowing shooting scenes. If you look up WR threads for A7 series, there are just too many fan-base talking and not enough evidence. The article by lensrental on A7 mII should be a good reference to check, last I recall similar material and design on the WR feature compared to previous model.

Not all aps-c lenses can be used satisfactorily on A7 series. With the auto crop on aps-c On, the resolution gets down to 10Meg on A7
and 16meg on A7r. With auto-crop Off, I sometime like using the Zoom feature going for 1.2x to 1.3x zoom and that will work quite well
but the caveat lies in the restriction on Jpeg usage. In a pinch, I actually compromise on using the Zoom feature along with some of my
aps-c E mount lenses such as my beloved Sigma 19, 30, and 60. The sigma 60mm is very usable, the vignette is almost treatable and if
you pick and choose the lighting scenes, some vignette adds character. You can see some samples in my dated blog post
Hin's Photo Corner: Sigma E 30mm f/2.8 and Sigma E 60mm f/2.8 usage on Sony A7

More vignette happens on the Sigma 30 compared to Sigma 60. All rear baffle need to be removed and placed in a safe place, I put mine in a Ziploc bag.
When I got my FE 35mm f/2.8, I compared the two and I am amazed how close the sharpness the Sigma 30 can get compared to the FE 35.

It was a casual impromptu shot and I remember if I apply lens profile correction, it is likely unedited. With some PP effort in pain, I would say some can be satisfactory. Your mileage may vary subject to your expectation.

Can I ask how much it cost you on the Jupiter? I once have the Jupiter 9 85mm f/2.0 in M42 mount
and it looks like your lens. And I remember vividly the good experience with the Russian lens.

I don't want to spoil your excitement. The additional bulk from m42 adapter or K-mount adapter takes away
some of the joy for me. It bugs me every time I try out my FA 43mm on the A7. The beautiful small lens FA 43
doubles in size because of the adapter need. In terms of shooting, none that matters as the A7 series has the best
features in giving you much to appreciate the experience with ease in MF.

My current lens mounted on A7

DSC08731 by hin_man, on Flickr

It is a Tamron SP 17mm f/3.5 adaptall-2 (151B). I use a LA-EA1 adapter with the baffle removed and this adapter
allows me to adapt easily with Minolta AF lens. It adds bulk but not as much as a direct Tamron adaptall-2 to E mount adapter.

For M42 mount, I have a complicated stacking of adapters to trim on size/appearance.

Industar 50-2 50mm f/3.5 pancake on M42 on left top
Konica AR to M42 silver adapter -- labelled as Praktica M42 to AR adapter
Konica AR to E adapter

The above setup does not save much but I like it when the combination looks smaller. Both the Canon FD mount
or the Konicar AR mount are smaller in comparison to Pentax K-mount or other slr mount like the Nikon or Minolta MC/MD mount.

The c-mount lens on right side of the picture won't work on FF as I get severe vignette but they do work charmingly as a specialty lens for the aps-c E mount. And for M42 mount, my favorite are the smaller lens with the Takumar

Contax G 45mm f/2.0 mounted with TechArt AF adapter

I have sold both of my Contax lenses in 45mm f/2.0 and 90mm f/2.8, they are both outstanding lenses but I had a lot of
disappointment on the adapters with TechArt and Metabones, and hence the departure. The Contax G are much smaller
when adapted on A7 series camera.

Sweet, is the last lens with Industar-69 28mm f/2.8, that lens vignettes heavily on full frame. Is that the case? It is a great little inexpensive lens, very usable on aps-c and I like it for black and white.

Don't know for sure if you have a Industar 50-2 pancake with 50mm f/3.5, my copy is in m42 mount. The adapter with M39/L39 is much thinner adapter.

Industar 50-2 50mm f/3.5 in M42 mounted with Praktica/M42 to Konica AR adapter (silver), Konica AR to E adapter

In fighting with LBA and embarrassed with lens count, I have sold both Industar for cheap and move on.

The combination of Focus assist/magnify and peeking make the A7 series outstanding with manual focus lenses. Please do watch out the LBA tempting thoughts. I have tried Konica AR, Canon FD, Schneider DKL, M42, M39/L39, Yashica C/Y, Contax G, Tamron adaptall-2 and Pentax K. Among those that I've tried, the M39/L39 and DKL gives the best form factor as the adapters are small. The Contax G is great but I dislike all the available adapters with Metabones and TechArt. The best value in my trials goes to the M42 mount, especially the Takumar.

I am afraid that I can't confirm your concern and question. I use Lightroom 5.7 and upgrading to the latest supports the new camera including A7II. Someone with CS5 and 6 hopefully can help you better.

Try to see if the Adobe release of Camera Raw 8.7.1 helps you

Adobe releases Camera Raw 8.7.1 with Sony a7 II support: Digital Photography Review

I think the ACR download or update to Lightroom latest will work with A7II.

Congratulation to you and MrNewt, I envy the A7II but I can't justify the upgrade from A7. I can share your excitement as Pentaxians.

I have a pointer to share

https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/

Requiring registration with user email and password sucks but that is the only way to download the free and purchase apps into your new Sony cameras. With the free Remote Control App, your smartphone with iPhone or Android will add remote touch-interface to your A7II along with your working phone. I was totally amazed when I get it working with a 10" android tablet where I can tether the shooting on the tablet as the viewfinder, any touch on the screen picks up the new focusing point -- sweet. The Smart Remote Control app currently does not support bulb mode but I think it is a matter of time hopefully in the near future version. As far as I know, video is not supported on my A7 or A6000, only available on A7S and A5100.

You need to download the Sony playmemories app on your phone and that doesn't require registration as it goes directly to the App store from Apple or Google.

I did a lookup for you on youtube for you two

And a demo of the touch interface with the free Smart Remote Control app in Playmemories.

All the apps have its quirks but worth a try to add some new tech to your camera.

Hin
