CRIS states that it'll cost $130 to replace button and fix card slot. The problem is I have a three-year warranty that was purchased with the camera and it has to be returned from AZ to me(at my cost), sent to NY(at my cost)to be checked out and then sent somewhere else to be returned.
If I pay the repair, the money spent on the warranty would be a waste of $85.

If you re-read my post, you'll see I've done those things except the using the card reader. The card (s)physically WILL NOT stay seated in the slot as they want to pop out.

Why would I do that? It locked-up two weeks ago and wouldn't turn off. The button vanished the same day and now, I won't want able to takes pics of my daughter's party.

My lens had been stuck on the camera for two weeks as of today. I was trying to take pics of my youngests birthday party when I forgot I didn't have the card in. The card was inserted about five times with no problems aside from the body not being able to read it.
Thinking that the particular item might be faulty, I substituted another and discovered that it wouldn't stay in. I tried re-inserting the original with no luck. Without a memory card, you could still take a pic before receiving the "no card" message. Now, I get "Memory card error".

Is sheer, unadulterated GARBAGE! Two weeks after the button falls off, the camera informs me that no card is installed. I replace it with a new one which the camera refuses too possibly load. I then retry the first and that too is refused.
