Thanks, glad you like it :)
I thought it was OK in colour, but like it better in monochrome - brings out the contrasts between light and dark better.

Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I am really happy with the 55-300. Most of the time I use this lens while hiking in the mountains at home, or, a few precious weeks every now and then, walking in the bush somewhere in Africa. This lens is just perfect for that - very small and light weight for a 300mm.
It could have been faster - f/5.8 isn't brilliant when light is failing. It definitely could have been quicker to focus, and less loud! Quick shift helps remedy that somewhat, though. And I'm sure it could have been sharper, too. Maybe. But as long as I almost always shoot handheld I'm not sure I would be able to see any difference. I have never had any reason to complain about the sharpness, even at 300/5.8.

Thanks guys! Yes, the coolness of "pure" b&w didn't match what I felt when I took the picture, so I added a bit of toning. Not too much, I hope.
Umm, and I'm not very good at getting my images printed... :o

Found this picture from a few years back and thought it might work in black&white.
As the morning turned into a very hot day this kudu found it best to head for the shade, and the brightly lit vegetation made for a nicely contrasted scene. Without the tree this image wouldn't have been much of anything, though.
Thanks for viewing!
