I agree. But until that happens, I have been using the Katzeye split image screen in my K-5 and it has worked just as well for me.
Something else that has worked for me is setting up the AF button, in Button Customization, as my auto focus trigger. Then, if you press that button while you are manually focusing, it will confirm focus with a beep and/or the flashing indicator in the viewfinder. You can then press the shutter release button to capture your image.

Thanks Dave. Yes, the winged creatures were few and far between. I actually got a few shots on a small woodpecker couple. But as you can see, I didn't quite nail the focus.
Yes, practice, practice, practice! ---------- Post added 10-19-14 at 11:12 AM ---------- One more from that day, with the 400mm f5.6 on the K-3.

Nice shot Dave! That is an unusual looking flower. The Buckeye tree is the state tree of Ohio, but I don't recall ever seeing one flower. Is that some variation of it ?

A 50 1.2 with the K-01 from last summer. Looking forward to growing more of these this year.

Still, a very impressive collection Frank, and as womble so aptly put it "very drool worthy". Although, I would include the entire collection not just the "Big Four in White".
I actually took delivery, a few months ago, on a very well priced, albeit fixer upper, A* 600, but its condition was much worse than had been described in the ad. I was quite fortunate to get a full refund, ( thank you PayPal ), upon its return to the seller.
Like you, I plan to do a lot more shooting when I retire. Right now I have more money than time, so I am working at acquiring those lenses that I would most like to be shooting with at that time. Much like that A* 200 I was fortunate to get at a reasonable price not to long ago.

Ditto Frank. I am adopting that as my new mantra regarding my collection of glass.
Awesome lens Dave. That being the first test shot should be very encouraging.

A little late in replying (Sorry about that. ) but, thank you Driline. I really liked your HO scale crane shot in the DA* Club thread. Until I read the description, I thought it was an actual crane. Nice detail.

Thanks Jean. I found it here,in the PF Marketplace, and jumped on it the minute I saw it. I hesitated on one about six months ago and missed out on it, and swore I wouldn't let that happen again. They don't come up for sale very often. It's a really nice copy of an awesome lens and I feel fortunate that I was able to secure it.
Thank you repaap. It is a very nice lens.
