This guy has been expending some extra energy lately growing in his new winter coat. A lot of eating and lots of sleeping. Typically when I try to take his picture he walks away. Tonight he just didn't care. The K-1 with the S-M-C Takumar 135mm f2.5.

I think they are too. That lens produces some crazy bokeh and, to my eye, the first two images are very painterly like. I found the M42 version of that same lens, last year, in a local camera shop and the clerk sold it to me for $10 as a throw in with another used lens that I was purchasing (which by the way was a Takumar 200mm f3.5 he sold me for $25, yet another great find). Other than testing it to make sure that it functioned, I haven't had it on a camera since. With these excellent images you have made with your copy, you have piqued my curiosity and I will be giving that lens a more thorough workout very soon.
Thank you! :)

Beautiful shot Dave! I am still waiting for my peonies blooms to open, to hopefully capture in kind.

Looks like you have a pretty good handle on manual focusing. Nice sharp shots!

If you do decide to go ahead with the KatzEye screen, I would suggest that you add on the OptiBrite feature. it does seem to add some brightness to the screen when stopping down. I loved it so much in my K-5 that I just recently ordered one for my K-10. I shot for years with the ME Super and the split screen was standard issue on it, so I find difficult to focus manually without it. But I agree with you in that focusing through the view finder is still my first choice.

Thanks for the compliment Frank. I wish it was my back yard with all that lush tropical foliage. Actually, this shot was taken indoors at the Franklin Park Conservatory here in central Ohio, where we barely managed to get into the 50 degree F range yesterday when that was shot.
I am very much liking the K-01, in particular the "focus peaking " feature with manual focus lenses. It is the primary reason that I acquired the K-01. Well, that and the $319 price offering. I'll admit that it is taking some getting used to focusing and composing on the back screen, but it is quite doable. Although I installed the Katz Eye split screen in my K-5 for manual focus lenses, I find that when I am loading my bag to go shoot I typically end up bringing the K-01 for the MF lenses. It helps cutting down on the lens swapping and IMHO the K-01 can deliver just as good of IQ as the K-5.

I have to put some distance between her and the camera in order to get a decent head shot. That is a look of total displeasure with me as I take this shot. Taken with the K-5, an A135 f2.8 and the Pentax F 1.7x AF Adapter. Camera shy by chuck_c 8, on Flickr

This shot had me laughing out loud when I first saw it. I have two Chows, a male and a female. The male, an image of who can be found just a couple of posts before this one, taken with an M135/3.5, I can pretty much shoot anytime I want. The female however, hates any kind of camera. Most of the time when I try to get a shot of her I end up with an image very similar to what you have here.

I just acquired an M 135 / 3.5 and was reminded by a fellow member in the M Lens Club, after posting this shot there, that there is also a 135mm Club. Since I also have an A 135 / 2.8 I will have to make an attempt to use it more often.
